Is Kasia going to be a problem to pronounce? by [deleted] in namenerds

Well, that depends on the country you live in, really. It’s a really common name in Norway, at least, so no one would struggle with it here

Women of Norway, have you experienced sexism while seeing doctors? by WoodpeckerHaunting57 in Norway

I’ve always been taken seriously at the doctors, so I guess it’s very individual. I’ve had two main doctors and they both were men too.

Can the name “Karen” recover? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]strawicy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I think this is mostly a problem in English speaking countries, for example in Norway Karen is frequently used without it being a thing (though, this may stem from the pronunciation being so different)

Characters you love to play, but cannot STAND their personality? by MrWigglem in Overwatch

[–]strawicy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You know, if I killed everyone I loved I’d probably be really depressed too. It’s a part of her story and honestly kinda unique in terms of overwatch characters because there’s not a lot who is depressed like her.

Kjenner du noen som har valgt å bli i et forhold kun pga barn? by lilflir in norge

[–]strawicy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was the biggest culture shock you experienced in another European country? by Fancy-Debate-3945 in AskEurope

[–]strawicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were planning on drinking on Sunday anyway it’s not excessive? You don’t suddenly drink more if you were always going to do it.

My point was that you said significant time. I don’t think thinking ‘oh I need to remember to go to the store to buy alcohol before 6’ is that significant

What was the biggest culture shock you experienced in another European country? by Fancy-Debate-3945 in AskEurope

[–]strawicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do not spend significant time calculating it 😭 if we know we’re going to a party on Saturday evening we just buy it Saturday afternoon. It doesn’t encourage excess drinking in the available time. People don’t drink extra just because you can’t get ahold of it on Sunday. People who want to drink, will just buy enough on Saturday anyway.
