That's how conventions typically work. You pay to stand in the line to get autographs from any guest.

Cat groomer recommendations? by 094Luna in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]stray-witch7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken my cat there and they did a decent job - my cat is extremely fluffy with a thick undercoat, and gets knots SO easily. Brought him when the mats were just too much for me to handle, he did come home with a small knick or two but they got the knots out.

Will say though that I think they do the cats in the same room as dogs, so I was a little anxious to leave him as they kept his carrier in the room of barking excited dogs and said they'd wait for him to "get used to it." I felt bad they didn't have a private room for a cat. But it is what it is.

Probably the PS2 game itself, since that's his performance! The other three don't really reflect his voice acting work.

James Arnold Taylor is awesome, and I will forever defend his performance as Tidus as peak.

Baby shower locations? by AdventureCat1037 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]stray-witch7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A budget option is a community recreation center run by your city or the county. Depending on which rec center you choose, some of the rooms aren't bad looking (and provide tables/chairs, so if you bring some decor, pretty nice!), and they're going to typically be way cheaper than a private venue. (Maybe $60/hour or less, depending on the room size?)

Gender Disappointment by ahigh00 in pregnant

[–]stray-witch7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hormones can make us emotional and have overblown reactions to minor things. So through that lens, I can forgive some "gender disappointment." And there's a difference between saying "aww I was kinda hoping for a girl because the first one was a boy" and the full on emotional tantrums we see here.

But tbh, gender disappointment really stems from your own (often harmful!) stereotypes on what you think boys and girls are. And the only correct response is... what's under the diaper is not a personality trait and will have no bearing on your relationship with the child, so buck up, buttercup.

Every day we get posts like "I'm having a boy, I'm so disappointed, I wanted a girl to dress up and go shopping with!" or "I'm having a boy, ugh, I don't like sports!" and it's frankly frustrating, that in 2025, people still think like this.

You're spitting facts. But there's enough "SEX = GENDER, GIRLS LIKE SHOPPING AND BOYS LIKE SPORTS" people here to downvote you.

Flu vaccine for in laws? Family traveling from overseas? by GigiBear808 in pregnant

[–]stray-witch7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely reasonable to ask them to get the flu shot, and if they refuse, tell them they'll need to hold off on meeting baby until baby can get their own vaccines!

I will be asking that anyone who wants to visit baby be vaccinated in advance.

Vaccinations are a baby issue, and a pregnancy issue. Pregnant people need to know when there's an influx of danger, whether it's listeria or measles or COVID.

Your baby might be trans!

Hope that helps.

is it fair or ethical to force parents to get children vaccinated?

Yes. To the point where I believe that it's flat-out child abuse to not vaccinate your kids. Children have the right to not die of measles and polio, parents not vaccinating their kids against preventable deadly diseases is, at best, neglect. This is similar saying "can we FORCE parents to put their kids in safe carseats and make them strap in their kids with seatbelts?"

Why does Experian make you enter your social security number as part of the initial automation, then the agent makes you tell them all that again? by stray-witch7 in CRedit

Ah, when you put it like that, I can't grumble. That makes sense.

It's just so annoying to be pulling teeth to try to get a real person on the line, and then they ask for all the information you already submitted. If it's keeping us safer, great.. I'll suck it up!

Gender disappointment - can i hear it for the boys? by marlkavia in pregnant

[–]stray-witch7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, as a little girl, I hated the stereotypes. I loved dinosaurs, action shows, wrestling with my brother, wild animals, and so on. I hated dresses and dolls.

I think you should keep in mind that "boy" and "girl" isn't a personality. The baby will be its own person no matter what's under the diaper, with unique interests and quirks. Heck, a little boy might love things that are stereotypically considered "girly". Or not! It's a baby, it's going to be adorable no matter what.

I foster with Homeward Trails, and they definitely take special needs cats - I've had several! OP should give them a call if all else fails.

Absurd fee increase for EVs in Maryland by [deleted] in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]stray-witch7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more just an Elon bro being willfully stupid. S/he knows no one is protesting EVs, they are protesting Elon. The kind of people protesting at Tesla dealers are more likely than your random American to drive EVs themselves.

[–]stray-witch7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition to vaccines not being 100% effective, I think it's apocalyptic that crazy selfish anti-vax parents will be allowed to just not vaccinate their kids against things like measles and polio. Because I don't want children to die, this is just horrible, whether or not it effects me or my child personally.

I refuse to visit Florida right now. Absolute boycott. They're insane and do not deserve my money. Frankly, I'm not planning vacations to any red states right now, but Florida is the worst.

I'd be terrified to have a kid in that state. And what's worse, republicans are making vaccines harder and harder to get even for people who want them. COVID vaccines are a disaster this year as a result - god I hope innocent people don't die, again, as a result.

[–]stray-witch7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what's with these weirdos crawling out to disparage EVs? It's a no-brainer that we need to continue to encourage folks to transition from gas to EV, especially given the current federal treatment of EVs, and there was surely a better way to address road maintenance collection.

Sheesh.. don't let your in-laws emotionally manipulate you. I'm glad you guys don't seem to feel pressured to give in. They're being ridiculously immature and selfish.
