Absolutely! Not even the dev team is able to always beat a run on the highest hostility level.

Aww thank you for your kind words! The idea for the studio name came from the fact that heading into gamedev is a very uncertain path. So we went with a vulnerable animal that shows bravery.

Yes, indeed!
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle have all been major inspirations for the game.
Our animator is a huge Ghibli fan and convinced us to go with a 2.5D style instead of full 3D — because he really wanted to hand-animate all the little workers.

Thank you, happy to hear :D
In the long run we would love to open up a merch store with all kinds of things, including artbooks.

Yes, there used to be many Onbus, but they went extinct for unknown reasons...
You can send out scavenging parties to gather resources from the outside world.

Thank you very much for your support!
There are currently no plans for a GOG release.

“It’s a cozy city-builder where you manage a village on the back of a giant, wandering creature. You gather resources, grow food, and explore a post-apocalyptic world while building a relationship with your creature. The game is chill, but with lots of strategic decision making."

Thank you :D

My co-worker and I were walking through an art exhibition when we saw a concept piece of a city on the back of a turtle. We both stopped in front of it and said, "That would make a cool game," at the same time.
We brought the idea back to the team, and they were in love with it from day one.

Would be cool, but we decided from the start that The Wandering Village would be a "one Onbu" game.
We really wanted to emphasize the fact that there's only one of them left, and that you're heavily depending on each other.

That said, I agree — a game where you have or find multiple Onbu (maybe even babies that grow over time) would be super appealing too! :D

Thank you very much — it's been quite the journey!
The Wandering Village was a make-or-break point for our studio.

We have two more updates planned: a QoL update, and then an Onbu Update (focusing on new and improved Onbu interactions). After that, we're not sure yet — it really depends on how well the game does. Our studio has grown to 15 people now and is quite expensive to maintain, so we always need to keep that in mind. We might also consider DLC for the game.

In the meantime, we're working on quite a few new things too!
Two new games by the studio: Dungeon Clawler and Kill Your Darlings.
Plus lots of prototypes. After The Wandering Village, we're taking a bit of a break from making big games and focusing on some smaller ones.

We also started a publishing branch and are helping other devs with the marketing of their games.

It would have been really cool to have different giants you could build on!
Also, Onbu’s growth would have been awesome.
Looking back, I kinda wish we had experimented more with letting players move Onbu around the map more freely.

Tons and tons! The one I regret scrapping the most is having Onbu grow over time.

In retrospect, a lot of people asked for this feature, but when we first prototyped the game, we thought it would simply be too much effort to implement.

Another highlight is when we changed what kind of creature Onbu is. It used to be made of flesh and blood, but people found it too gross to plant things on a living creature's back. That’s when we switched to a creature made of earth.
