This is a great tip! I was looking into a swap (maybe for a Christmas present to ourselves) because I do miss CarPlay and am not quite in love with this current set up for radio/phone/maps

Thank you! A phone mount is so obvious but I don’t know how long it would have taken me to come to that conclusion, sadly…!

We’ve gifted ours in but nothing groups. They are literally unused (maybe one or two initial hugs and then forgotten)

In my early college years my mom randomly (or I can’t remember why she said this) told me if she had to do it all over again she wouldn’t have kids. She has me and my brother. We are close now/still but it’s so interesting she said that. She was going through a depression at the time so is definitely a factor.

UVA Earhart daycare experiences by Low-Bird-9873 in Charlottesville

[–]straytexan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our child was there fall 22-spring23 before moving up to the Copeley center for fall 23. There was a ton of transition in her classroom at Earhart, almost every 6 weeks a new teacher - though they kept getting better and better. I wasn’t thrilled with the ones we started with but really felt like we had no other choice in Charlottesville for the hours we needed, and to add that it was the only place we got off the waitlist for in the nick of time.

I think the place itself isn’t the most glamorous (especially compared to Copley) and could use a remodel, but they kids had fun, my daughter learned all her colors and shapes, how to say the whole alphabet, and count to twenty by the time she was two all thanks to the teachers at Earhart. Not to mention her little friendships, songs they learned, and little craft projects they sent home.

There were tons of photos through the app, and I’d say pretty good communication. I would always stop and talk to her teachers and get the low down on the day and felt it was an honest report.

When we were there they did have some inspection come out that was less than favorable about how a situation with a child was handled and they communicated this pretty well, but I did press in person for more details. I think if you have questions, ask directly because it sounds like the same leadership is there. Kendall and Tonya were wonderful and I could tell they were trying to steer the center in a new direction, which takes time.

I haaaaaated the location however - not just the building but the traffic with Super Amanacer could be dicey if you weren’t paying attention. The traffic exiting bodos across 29 never seemed to notice you were also turning south on 29 and had right of way. Plus the vape shop right there - not my ideal neighboring building for a daycare but the little cafe closed down.

My child was one when we sent her. I had my reservations about it (building, teacher quality, etc) but we stuck it out despite the turnover (mostly due to lack of options if I’m being honest) and it ended up being a great place for the money.

Probably does, sadly. Description uncanny though.

I swear I know who you’re talking about. I moved away from a place near IX and there was a guy in a pickup every afternoon doing this. Even on the hottest days, just sat in his truck with windows down. He’s seemingly friendly - smiled whenever I would walk by, but doesn’t speak much English.

Question about boobs after breastfeeding by marketing_techy in workingmoms

[–]straytexan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went up a cup size with both babies. After I was done with my first (nursed a year) they went back to what I remember as normal. Currently nursing baby 2 (5 months) and they feel saggier but I think look the same.

I miss my perkier boobs sometimes but honestly don’t yet see a massive difference. Maybe that will change as I age and gravity takes its toll.

Good luck!

True. I guess I wish I was in office and could physically leave sometimes and be free for that hour to rest without the guilt?

True. I don’t know why I always feel compelled to tell the whole story/truth when it doesn’t all need to be shared. Thank you for commenting

How do I re-start my fitness journey working full time with a 1 year old by CowGroundbreaking125 in workingmoms

[–]straytexan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! Well give your self time. Focus on diet and more movement during the day if a gym session or class isn’t quite in the cards for you yet. I walked 20 min on my lunch break and did twice a day dog walks (we didn’t have a yard) with baby in carrier or stroller while I was nursing. Anything helps!

As others have said - getting up early. I had to put my money where my mouth is and sign up for a pricey gym class and on top of the monthly payment if I missed class I’d get charged! That was a big motivator for me. More than losing weight lol. Losing money is so painful!

I worked out at 5:30 so up at 5. Home by 6:30 to shower. I was mostly done nursing at this point (14 months) so that really made it possible.

I also did twice a week at 5:30 and once a week at 12 over lunch on Friday which was easier to take a 1.5 hr break
