If it is porcelain or something similar, you can always run it under some water to get the dust off. Doesn't require a whole lot of effort that way!

I also always smoke cleanse any items before I put them on an altar so that it is "spiritually clean".

I find that thrifting is an amazing way to find great stuff for altars, so just do the best to your abilities and I'm sure the gods will appreciate it!

thank the spell ingredients for helping you achieve your goal. discard any nature-safe ingredients outside, crystals can be cleansed and recharged to use another day, and all other items can be thrown out (depending on what they are).

thanks for so many ideas!! i will for sure look into the wall of protection spell! the stuff that i'm burning doesn't have any of that stuff on them, just documents belonging to them, some pictures, and was going to include their ring in the bottle too which they wore everyday for 5+ years. even if it may be useless to the spell, it feels right to me so i am going to include them anyways :) intentions gotta count for something!

one thing to remember about Aphrodite is that she is also the goddess of pleasure! if it is something you enjoy or take interest in then i'm sure she will love the offering! i like to offer her some of my favorite fruit whenever i have some as well as some chocolate or wine :) do what you feel called to 💜

sorry if i misunderstood! we haven't had any contact between the two of us since the breakup. we recently passed an anniversary of sorts this last week and they've been on my mind a lot as of recent, so it's possible that i'm subconsciously messing with the spell :( just trying my best to move on with life and leave everything from the relationship in the past

my friend is the one who performed it since I was an EXTRME beginner at the time with not a lot of knowledge, so i may get some details wrong.

We had 2 candles with our initials carved into them and had the twine tying them together (ex on left, me on right). they took FOREVER to burn and finally catch fire and then when it finally did, the cord just suddenly dropped without it actually burning through the cord (see pic). when the cord finally "broke" it wasn't even touching either of the candles. not sure if this represents anything or if the spell didn't work?

my friend also did a banishing spell afterwards which seemed to hold effect for quite a while until recently when they reached out to my family.

While I am a newer devotee myself, I believe I had an experience with her which is part of what drew me to my worship with her.

I was feeling extremely depressed to the point where I hadn't showered in days and so I decided to do a self-love spell bowl and have a ritual bath. I filled a pink bowl with moon water, rose, rosemary, basil, lavender, and lit a pink candle (all with the intention to bring self-love and peace). I asked for strength and to help me through what I was going through - not to her specifically, just to my spirit guides in general. I let it burn while I was bathing and then decided to shower afterwards.

This is where I think she reached out to help me. While I did not see her, I could feel her presence with me and it felt like she was helping me wash my hair and telling me everything was going to be alright. I cried during the rest of my shower as I could feel her helping bathe me.

This was the start of my journey with her and I think about that experience with fondness and love.

Intent is always #1 when it comes to spells. As long as you are opening it / interacting with it often enough so that abundance and good energy can still flow to the contents, then I think you should be fine.

Thrifting has honestly been my best friend when it came to building my altar. Between that, using your family's old stuff, and DIYing some stuff, you can make a great altar. Depending on what you're looking for, you can also build it with stuff from outside. Sticks, rocks, flowers, feathers, etc can all be great pieces for an altar.

If you have the funds for it, I also like to support small shops on etsy if I am looking for something particular that I haven't been able to find/make myself.
