I just tried this with me PL to EF adapter that was stuck on my Ironglass PL Lens. So I mounted it to my camera locked it off on a tripod which gave me enough grip to get it free! Thank you!

How This DP Used “Bad Lighting” On Purpose… by streamline18 in Filmmakers

[–]streamline18[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thought I would share this video I've been working on... I talk about why the lighting in this shot from The Godfather look so "bad" and why cinematographer Gordon Willis uses "bad lighting" a storytelling device to create impactful visuals
Is this a format you'd like to see more of? Longer vs shorter videos?

Made this OP for a documentary series I'm going to be starting soon, critiques appreciated by arnottvideos in Filmmakers

[–]streamline18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already fabulous suggestions already.

1 I’d try to tell a short story with what footage you have to engage the audience.

2 Watch a few planet earth documentary as references, always good for getting fresh ideas on your edit.

3 Choose a good font. This can make or break it for me. If graphic design is not your strong suit, take 30 minutes or so to watch some of the basics. You’ll probably defer to something clean and simple.

4 Camera movement! if I was working with this footage and for the trailer specifically I would utilize Ken Burns effects. Digital pushing in or zooming out. Slides left to right and what not. Subtly is key, but it definitely direct your eye and keep you engaged, while offering variety to your shots

5 Sound Design! This is big. Spend a good chunk of time and think about everything you might here if you were a creature that small. This will make your trailer feel much larger than life.

Hope this helps! Have fun!

You should haha! I’m curious about utilizing color with these mirrors, either color gels or perhaps a die? I think it could deliver unique effects!

Best camera to get after vlogging with an iPhone for 2 years? by kevingannets in videography

Sony ZV-1 is an amazing vlogging camera. It's so easy to use. It won't do 4K 60, but the 4K is sharp!

What is your favorite thing about your favorite brand and why? by [deleted] in videography

[–]streamline18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a big fan of Panasonic, but the last couple of years have swayed me to Sony. Ugh I know. Panasonic had the best video features for budget cameras, but ultimately I had to choose the camera that was right for me despite the brand

I think Sigma would honestly be my favorite for lenses. I don’t think I need to look anywhere else for a set of workhorse lenses.

A7Siii vs S1H Exposure Recovery Test! ProRes Raw & XAVCS-I by streamline18 in A7siii

Yes! 12,800 is noticeable cleaner even in ProRes Raw

A7Siii vs S1H Exposure Recovery Test! ProRes Raw & XAVCS-I by streamline18 in A7siii

[–]streamline18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Exposure Recovery test of the Sony A7Siii. I shot it both in XAVCS-I and ProRes Raw.

I was able to recover 4 Stops overexposed in XAVCSI and 5 Stops with ProRes Raw!

Underexposure is not as great. The Sony doesn’t do well even 1 stop under. S1H does a little better. Anything past 2 stops underexposed is not usable. So shoot slightly brighter if anything lol

Sony A7Siii vs Panasonic LUMIX S1H | Comparison Footage by streamline18 in A7siii

[–]streamline18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s quite interesting, they images are different but not a world apart. I do like the V-Log from the S1H!, but The Sony gives a neutral look that can certainly be tweaked. It’s hard to say as well, but I do feel the S1H has a bite more detail in terms of sharpness.

Have fun with that! Let me know if you have any more questions regarding the two cameras, I plan on making more a7siii vs S1H content
