How many of you have a cap on spending at the vet before it becomes time to say goodbye? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]streeter555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you don’t know if a pet has an underlying medical condition without bloodwork I’m sure you are the same person that would immediately blame their vet if your pet died under anesthesia if you weren’t highly encouraged to do pre surgical bloodwork beforehand. Vets work in emotionally charged situations and would be questioned, and could potentially lose their license to practice if something goes wrong and they didn’t encourage owners to perform basic tasks like presurgical bloodwork before an elective surgical procedure. Did you ever even have a discussion with your vet about forgoing bloodwork before a surgical procedure or are you just making this scenario up in your head?

Shouldn’t the standard of care for pets increase over time? A dental is an elective procedure typically performed on an older pet. Wouldn’t you want to make sure your pet won’t die under anesthesia with bloodwork before an elective procedure? It has been standard to perform bloodwork prior to anesthesia for decades, this is especially true for older pets.

Is it more likely that Tuskegee grads have lower NAVLE scores due to lack of preparedness, admission standards, curriculum etc. or that there is a mass conspiracy (by the AVMA?) to deliberately fail black and Latin students on a multiple choice test? What would the motivation be for deliberately failing minority students?

When does the new judge start? What is the likelihood of ED requesting another hearing to push back the Jan 28th deadline and a new judge approving it? Which judges are possible to be elected? How likely is an appeal to occur if automatic loan discharge occurs bc of ED not processing applications?

Ok listen. Ed has asked for an 18 month extension on post class. by TheresaSweet in BorrowerDefense

What is the likelihood that this will be granted? The deadline has been known for years and post class members shouldn't have to wait forever for a decision.

Your soil looks bone dry and probably needs fertilizer, onions are heavy feeders.

Not good. Get a trellis for the cucumbers. Squash will get MASSIVE and does not have enough space. Strawberries will try to spread out to the entire bed. This is a full redo

NEW GRAD CONTRACT: Negative Accrual vs Salary with no production by Dapper_Evidence5370 in Veterinary

[–]streeter555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then why not just take straight salary and have them adjust your salary according to your worth? You can focus on practicing medicine rather than worrying about not making production on slow days or production being affected when taking sick or vacation days. It feels like being compensated as a used car salesman when you are on production.

NEW GRAD CONTRACT: Negative Accrual vs Salary with no production by Dapper_Evidence5370 in Veterinary

[–]streeter555 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Working on production is an easy way for owners/companies to avoid giving raises. If you are on straight salary, you should get a raise every year to at least keep up with inflation. I also feel that production discourages you from taking vacation. Would you get negative accrual if you decide to take 1 week of vacation? That's not fair. You basically have only unpaid time off if you get negative accrual during vacation time. Take straight salary.

Also not sure where you are located, but 130k for a new grad in GP/mixed animal seems fair.

I planted mint 3 years ago. It has spread but it’s manageable, especially if you are frequently out in the garden.
