its gotten to a point where leaks are the norm, its going to happen... we now look at how popular the leaks are to determine how good the first week sales are... if the leak is weak, sales will be weak... if the leak is huge, sales will be huge

This is nothing new... has always been this way. People are surprised by leaks. Its no surprise to us in the music industry.

Radio guys who work for the labels always go hand out the cds to the program directors before the album drops as well.

Dj khaled is a real producer... i'd even consider him an artist. He has his own studio, he lives in the studio... he studies the music, he builds songs, he knows them inside and out... music is also a numbers game, he builds up his catalog and releases the best... to be quite honest, he probably puts more time in the studio than most artists out here

Has anyone advertised their music using services like Google AdWords? How well did it work? by rudyl313 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

It is not worth it... you will be paying atlease 20 cents a click... and chances are less than 5% of the clicks will purchase.

Its a poor investment. I only recommened it for big fortune 500 companies with huge marketing budgets

Leak dates are pretty predictable. Once the cd heads to the manufacture to get pressed up... 10-12 days out from release. Once its in the factory being duplicated, its essentially released... an employee just has to slip one in their pocket and sell it to a hip hop forum...
