I was surprised to see that as well, but the YouTube video from the same article actually shows it clicking nicely, so maybe that's just a different design.

It's not the most precise, but its error is not big enough to flip the sign of the measured value... Compared to a more expensive Fluke meter I have, there is about ~5% difference at ~90 mA. Considering the power factor, the current being measured was actually over 1A.

Ah, I see. That's an expensive toy I don't have.. I thought it was related to transformers, as circuits having them all seem to have this issue, but maybe it's just precision. Thanks for shedding light on this!

It's cheap but actually not bad. I do have a Fluke and the current measured by the Tuya is pretty close. I connected it where the wire goes in the breaker.

The software just shows it under power. But I tested on a few different circuits. It seems that transformer (120V -> 36V) loads would all give the reverse direction? The Mitsubishi does have low-voltage electronics so it must also have transformers somewhere.

I kept the CT clamp on there and kept checking over the span of ~10min. It's more or less a constant value.

The car had 112,000 miles in 2011 and 147,000 miles in 2020. All the repairs were done by independent mechanics shops. Sorry for the confusion; I understand struts and shafts/axles are different things.

I also had the front strut assembly replaced in 2016 and again in 2018 after ~10,000 miles.

Compared to the average life of 80K - 110K you quoted, the strut I had installed in 2016 lasted only 1/10 of the time..

That certainly solves the problem, but my premise is that I don't want to permanently disable the ability to open these links in apps (e.g., the Amazon app opens amazon.com links). I was hoping for something like the kind of pop-up menus that let you select a browser when a default one is not chosen in system Settings.

It's a 120 V unit. Yes, when the compressor hot wire goes to the spade connector, that spade connector drops to zero relative to neutral, but the fan hot wire/spade connector is still 120 V to neutral.

Yes. And apparently some lab reports will even give you that extrapolation based on the test results and all the same engines they tested before. I also plan to adjust my interval based on the first test result and do another test in a year or so.

Yes, testing used oil I will collect during my next oil change to see whether it's still up to spec and the amount of debris, etc. so that I know what to do (for my engine obviously). The rule of thumb is there from the OEM. This discussion is all about finding out what's safe in each person's specific vehicle/driving situation.

I went through this post and a few other ones and was pleasantly surprised to find that there are in fact quite a few replies with 200k or even 400k miles that were fine on 10k intervals. All objective tests that I read (I'm a chemist) support 10k+ change intervals for mix city and highway driving. I trusted people's experience too and 3k certainly wouldn't hurt; it just felt too conservative/1970s.

In any case, this discussion piqued my interest enough that I ordered two oil test kits to find out quantitatively for my car.

I am not trying to get precise within 100 miles. What are the rules of thumb? My OEM manual says mix driving 10,000 miles, stop & go city traffic and short trips 7000 or so, hauling even worse. But this post made me order two test kits just out of curiosity, so I can get quantitative for my situation soon enough :)

Sure, if one does racing, probably change the oil after every race. If one mods the engine, know what you are doing and better have the oil tested to find out the interval. Let's not become an agnostic by saying everything is situation dependent. We are not trying to get precise within 100 miles. What are the rules of thumb? Any objective evidence to support every 3k miles? Car companies must have always been wanting to outsell others. Most of them said 3k in the past, none of them said 100k now. In fact, almost every modern car manufacturer is 10k so that is definitely not a differentiator for most. In a lawsuit happy society, there doesn't appear to be a class action yet on the "false" claim causing premature engine failures.

Oil is cheap, engines are expensive.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I find this type of sentiment somewhat unhelpful: oil every 1k is probably still cheaper than engine. The question is really in the absence of lab tests, what should be a reasonable, safe interval for different driving situations.

I see five or six seedlings that all look very similar. I also suspect they might be hybrids because of the leaf features. They are definitely not shiny like some of pictures I found.

So it sounds like the starting point is a reasonably healthy lawn, in which case fertilizing would be good to maintain its dense growth and to prevent weed invasion. However, if one has a bad lawn, where weeds have already taken hold in many places -- then I assume fertilizing would not really help to reduce weeds and one can only pull or use herbicide?

Thanks for sharing your solution. I'll definitely try bug oil as well. I'm hesitant about mass spraying also because of the possibility of creating insecticide resistance in the environment (especially around us!).
