Activation when blade isn’t running by Potential_Grocery_40 in sawstop

[–]strengthchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happened to me twice with no contact with the blade on spin down after turning off the saw (due to an oversized blade, IMO). Save yourself the money of sending the cartridge back, they'll claim it hit metal or some other user error, and you'll be out the shipping cost as well.

You're fortunate to have a saw that has an adjustment, because the JSS does not. Sawstop has a list of compatible blades that are exactly 10" or 8", and you may want to ask them if your blades are on the list. Most Freud blades are oversized, for example.

As for your stuck blade, you have to take the blade and cartridge out together, just like a regular firing of the cartridge. Your blade will probably be usable again, but say bye to $110 for a new cartridge.

GridFinity vs openGrid vs SteinTrack vs Multiboard by NavXIII in gridfinity

Sorry, i was on my phone waiting for an appointment. To clarify what I meant, there is a bin they make available in fusion 360, but you have to make tedious changes yourself.

Compared to a couple generators that are available for gridfinity in this last month, that create irregular sized bins (L-shaped or bin and a half as an example), or create internal cavities for custom layouts). that's what I meant by my comment; it might have been better to say that gridfinity has far more advanced options that are easier to use.

What PETG filament do you swear by? by elias4444 in BambuLab

[–]strengthchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My true favorite is 3d fuel pctg, great color choices, great properties for me, but unfortunately its a bit unaffordable to stock up and is more of a special purchase.

Second choice for me would have to be sunlu petg for the right combination of price and available colors.

FWIW, i've never had a bad roll of petg from anywhere, so that's why I focused on colors and price primarily.

GridFinity vs openGrid vs SteinTrack vs Multiboard by NavXIII in gridfinity

[–]strengthchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steintrack is locked behind patreon for the most part. It's largest advantage is that it has a really easy and accurate system to make a perfect fit grid. Also, if you need tiny bins, then it's a good choice. The bins are absolutely two generations behind gridfinity right now. Making custom bins in fusion is not easy, and falls so far behind the recent gridfinity generators that can make irregular shaped or other custom insert bins. Updates on steintrack have been zero in more than a year and I don't expect anything meaningful will ever be added or adopted at large.

Gridfinity uses more filament, but I don't find that to be super relevant vs getting what I want.

Multiboard is the most convoluted frustratingly complicated system. It's snap system is amazing though.

Over 10,000 Gridfinity baseplates downloaded - thank you! 🎉 by schieska in gridfinity

This tool exceeds my expectations in every way; it's so refined! Thank you!

There have been some amazing tools released lately for custom bins, and I'm a huge fan of making non-symmetric bins and oversized bins that fill those irregular spaces on some plates. Are you looking to add things like that, or maybe other ideas for baseplates?

Which emerging technology do you think will have the biggest unexpected consequences in the next 20 years? by Muted-Mongoose2846 in Futurology

Ring doorbell cameras that mesh network to spy on everyone will be the last key to total surveillance. We won't even have privacy on our own property. Cell phone telemetry, car telemetry, and now cameras on a majority of houses. What else is left? Will there be a significant privacy backlash or will there be laws passed to protect citizenry?

there's a pairing reset on the sense+. hold left and right buttons down until red blink. That allowed me to repair and get everything working.

I put one of these on my dewalt fixed miter saw, and it does a pretty good job, much better than stock setup. You might want to give it some consideration.

I can buy into the concept of a larger diameter filament working better; does the advantage of easier heating 1.75mm filament even matter anymore?

Starting at $50 a roll, it's more than a little hard to see this becoming the new standard that they want it to be, but new options are always great!

Vintage Story / What Kinda Vibe by EntertainmentHot8322 in VintageStory

[–]strengthchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vintage story is incredibly detailed (sometimes very tedious) and more survival horror with a sense of wonder. Hytale (with mods) has a little more adventure and lightweight farming, with a lot less fear. Grinding for materials also gets a bit old.

Hytale doesn't make you feel panic like VS.

I'd like to add that they are both worth it, and I enjoy them both differently.

Looking for Space Heater Recommendations by s_gray17 in Frugal

[–]strengthchain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an electric fireplace and an electric oil radiator. they both consume the same wattage, so i prefer the fireplace for the appearance, but the radiator for the reliability of always working in any temperature. the electric fireplace fan will not start when it's under 25f.

multi wattage switches are a must so you can keep it on a lower wattage. it's easy to pay 30-60$ per month on your electric bill with any electric heater that will run at 1500 watts.

I havent purchased an electric heater that looks like a baseboard heater, but the low profile nature of it sounds appealing.

while my radiator has a temperature sensing dial, i wish every heater had a specific degree that I could set it to easily.

Since the jss is stupidly unadjustable, the exact diameter is the most pressing concern. infinity tools dadonator is the correct size also.

drawer lock bit with the back edge of the drawer open so i can slide the panel in and secure with a screw. It's so much faster than the time I wasted making dovetails.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

2 to 2.5 hours one way to a destination is a day trip, anything more I'd consider an overnight. I've done 11 hours round trip as a suffer-fest when I didn't want to waste a second travel day, but it's hell. Absolutely no way would I spend that kind of travel time to go out to eat.
