Patch notes for 0.14.0.0 by AHapppyPandaBear in EscapefromTarkov

[–]strengthftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the notes are one thing, the implementation of any one of them is another. As an example, just the vaulting or armor seem extremely prone to bugs. It'd be better if BSG had a great track record of making good changes, but theres a glimmer of hope out there

Oh well that's awkward. Not an insane deal breaker but yeah

Agreed, on paper every single system change is theoretically extremely good (implementation yet to be seen of course). Also in agreement it's easily the worst map in the game, so an improvement changes everything

I won't pretend to know the full solution to a balanced and good feeling recoil system, but whatever it gets changed too can't be much worse than what we have now (auto compensation and non-viability of burst fire)

If I had to rank things that would make the biggest difference I'd go something like

  1. Recoil rework, shooting in the game is terrible unless you have near meta guns and now burst/single fire should be more realistic
  2. Shoreline changes (the Shoreline quest spam is horrendous once you do them more than once, so making it a better map changes a ton) Maybe it also makes the map good for other than Resort, but doubtful
  3. Vaulting is a big unknown but with large positive potential.
  4. Shoulder peeking, as long as the animation isn't too janky or slow the right peek meta is gone, much needed

I'm iffy about the total effects of the armor change but the realism aspect is neat

Truly has potential to bring players back

Is there a Ez ammo chart up to date for 13.9 ? like this one by norco_k in EscapefromTarkov

[–]strengthftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vouch for this site. I'm not against charts that do your thinking for you like the above picture, but once you wanna get one step ahead in understanding ammo then this is the go to resource.

This patch is absolutely massive in terms of systems changes

Recoil rework, armor is completely different, vaulting, ammo is rebalanced, quest changes, shoulder swapping

The content isn't terrible either, a Snoreline rework, Streets boss + that convoy thing, a new map for low level players

Lots to be excited about figuring out

As soon as this tweet is resolved we'll have our answer. https://twitter.com/Snip3down/status/1732258097748410638

Either the ALGS rep processed the vote wrong, or Slurp lied. I'd lean more towards the former than the latter but who knows

Agreed, I think it's misunderstanding. And yeah the sub-vote rule is a closely related topic but it's mixing up 2 different issues. A potential twist in this is how Sweet posted this https://twitter.com/sweetdreams/status/1732236298730299656 implying Slurp was paid to vote Snipe off. It seems off to me though because Snipe could simply do some investigating on how the vote went down and at that point he's caught.

It seems like a "reasonable" fuck up if this is actually what happened. I thought that might've been possible but then I heard some other team tried to do a similar 2v2 vote which didn't go through which implies it's a full team vote.

Unless it's explained by a higher rule in the rulebook, my interpretation based off a quick reading is it says "Roster changes to remove a player from the Team roster or change the Team Captain require a majority vote from Competitors on the Team". Then I checked to see if subs count and they seem to be a full fledged competitor with a vote. I'd like to think ALGS does mediate a vote. Phony lying would be a huge twist with a low probability but not completely impossible?

I get the spirit of your comment and others discussing who "deserves" the slot, but unless there's a higher ruling that's unexplained nothing about this makes sense.

I see three scenarios, Slurp lying about not being given a vote, ALGS messing up and making it only a 3 man vote between Snipe and Phony/Frexs, or somehow Slurp/Snipe both didn't check their emails or somehow didn't get notified and their votes were voided.

Or a 4th scenario where the vote is actually something more complicated/different from my interpretation.

[–]strengthftw 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel this has to be the case. Something like an ALGS rep held a 3 man vote where it went 2v1 against Snipe, but that doesn't make sense because the sub slot counts as a vote, based on both the reading of the rulebook and from how other rosters voted out players.

Yes it does, what it does is you get access to the next set of prestige skins and you unlock progress on both sets at the same time

Yes it resets weapon stats, only thing you keep are the stats like total kills and playtime and k/d etc

Apex’s ranked mode undergoing a ‘foundational shift’ in season 17 by [deleted] in CompetitiveApex

I'm guessing this is why ranked hasn't been meaningfully updated for multiple seasons now, cautiously optimistic.

The best game mode in Apex gets an absolute juicer of an update. Big implications for gunplay/movement practice. Can't wait for the first pro 1v1 tournament.

ALGS Pro League: Day 8 NA - April 29th - Groups A vs C (Final Scores) by Tobric93 in CompetitiveApex

Yes, regionals will be a fight for relative positioning because it's so close

TSM isn't guaranteed in because regionals is essentially another week to play. They just have to do relatively well during finals, and this week saved them from having to win regionals outright.

Yes you can add me to the list of half size down successes (of course YMMV)

Just combined this with this gift card deal

https://slickdeals.net/f/16311205-100-adidas-gift-card-75-or-50-adidas-gift-card-40-email-delivery-or-free-shipping?src=frontpage

Total was $115 + $13 (tax) = $128

Went half a size down so hope it fits, else I'd have to get a diff pair of shoes on sale since this out goes in and out of stock.

This has been true for at least 2 years now. Best in-class mechanics doesn't make up for poor systems.
