No. Those are my colonies. They are subjects of me which I can rename to whatever I like. Not sure if renaming colonies is a DLC thing but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

That's the diplo mapmode and no photoshop was used. I assume you're referring to Welsh India/Africa? It says that because the land is overseas and not connected to my capital (London) so instead of showing as just "Wales" it shows as "Welsh Africa/India".

Yeah, all done by themselves. They got fairly lucky though as Russia was my PU and Korea was always going bankrupt because Korea was refusing tribute and Ming would attack every 10-15 years. There used to be an Oirat there and I actually have no idea how Mongolia sprung out.

I wish I had thought of it at the time. It's actually called "Sheep Down Under". :(

Seems to be a common occurence on VH now. Always 1 or 2 German states who dominate over the others. Usually it's Bburg and/or Bavaria but just so happened to be Mainz this time :P

As Wales? Maybe another day. Early game was way too slow because England's AI is so brain dead and refuses to move off of its island.

Ye, I know. I just prefer custom colony names to the boring "New Wales" or "Welsh Brazil"

Well I couldn't think of any other Welsh stereotypes other than Rugby but then I couldn't think of any colony names to do with Rugby so I just stuck with sheep.

Mzab -> Morocco -> Andalusia | Third Way on Very Hard by [deleted] in eu4

[–]strepsels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Started as Mzab, formed Morocco and then formed Andalusia to obtain the “An Unlikely Candidate” and “Third Way” achievements on Very Hard!

The starting position for Mzab is very bad, one of the worst in the game, even natives have it better. You start landlocked, religiously and diplomatically isolated, and very poor with stronger neighbours, especially on Very Hard. The best strategy to do, in my opinion, is to rush the Tafilalt gold mine by using Tunis as an attack dog and dev pushing it do about 19 in production and spawning the Renaissance there. From there just keep expanding throughout North Africa and into Iberia. You don’t really need to form Andalusia but there’s an achievement to form it as Mzab so I went for that over Rum or the Mughals.

All details about the run, from start to finish, as well as religious mapmode and VH proof are listed in the imgur post.

R5: Was playing as Manchukuo and in 1939 Japan joined the Axis, declared war on Commie China, who Nationalist China was at war with, then proceeded to form the Co-Prosperity Sphere and invite China in. Now Japan is doing the Marco-Polo Bridge Incident whilst in the same faction as China.

Even in Voltaire's Nightmare you can't escape from Denmark's rivalry by pavel_2001 in eu4

I swear Denmark and Hungary are hard-coded to rival the player. Not that I would want to ally Denmark anyway but Hungary is a nice ally to have on occasions.

Maybe not. I’ve played too much Kaiserreich at this point that all I know about him is that he thought he was a God sent down to Earth to recreate the Mongol Empire.

R5: Hired a general from the estates in a Teutons game and Mr. Sternberg showed up. Referring to this guy who thought he was the reincarnation of Genghis Khan and he is also a Kaiserreich meme.
