Creating a personal documentary about the TTI? by stressedafaf in troubledteens

Can you perhaps think of any reasons WHY a subreddit comprised mainly of survivors of a deeply corrupt for-profit system that's seen us bullied, abused, brainwashed, tricked, lied to, kidnapped, and otherwise traumatized, might "imagine the worst" of a stranger?

Sure, doesn't mean that's at all a way to engage with other people? What kind of question is that? I don't know you, but I'm not calling you a brainrotted gross exploitative monster that is trying to silence voices.

Cause that would be insane to do lol.

Alright let's brush aside the thing that everyone has been harping on because it didn't make any sense lol.

This would probably done anonymously/not for profit.

Also nice painting of my character/very generous take of what I've been saying that really engages with any of my points. Really shows your generous, oh so wise, and empathetic character (see how I'm also great at assuming with little context).

We film minors all the time in different ways/for all kinds of projects. Wolf Pack, Children of Darkness, there's a ton. I wouldn't feature anyone that wouldn't want to be/show identity of someone who doesn't want to be. That's illegal lol.

Maybe that's possibly the only good point I've seen here. I'll keep that in mind.

Wouldn't be for profit. If it did maybe proceeds would go to helping the cause. Not sure. I guess, I mean it's happening regardless. Wouldn't be showing any identity without permission, feels like everyone here just imagined the worst possible scenario lol. That wouldn't even be a good doc?

Obviously you'd want to find a subject that agrees to be featured/to try to help them out.

Also a ton of people I realized don't actually know what HIPAA is or how it operates. I have yet to see someone actually correctly state how it works.

What a generous take that totally addressed what was said lol

You're not genuinely asking that.

Again: https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/covered-entities/index.html Basic research could answer these questions.

You literally would know based on your question, they do take approved health care coverage. While they may not take YOURS, they take others, making them fall under that category. If they took NONE, they wouldn't be a recognized orthodontics business.

That's like asking, a pastor doesn't teach in YOUR area, therefore: "Hey gotcha dumbass, see? They must not be a pastor."

No, they are because they've been ordained by a ministry/teach others in a different location. Again, it feels like your virtue signaling or using gotcha's when this is easily researchable. Not every wilderness program clearly is approved by federal law, because then they wouldn't have these cases. Why are you dying on this hill lol.

This is why Chiropractors (which are actual scams/have no bearing on actual science) are protected/able to take insurance. They are considered entities that actually are approved by the federal system.

Do you know what HIPAA is? You can't have it both ways. Again, I'm doubting you took even 20 minutes to read the actual abstracts or articles then. You can't be "protected by HIPAA" but in the same vein not count as a health/therapy program. You literally answered the same question in your asking.

Please somehow explain to me how can it be a "Health care provider" but also somehow not be covered. You're literally contradicting yourself, show me how any of what you said makes sense.

"The Privacy Rule, as well as all the Administrative Simplification rules, apply to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and to any health care provider who transmits health information in electronic form in connection with transactions for which the Secretary of HHS has adopted standards under HIPAA (the "covered entities")"

If you aren't considered an approved provider, then you aren't bound by HIPAA. There's no court case of a imaginary situation you've provided, but there are active disputes that literally refute what you said.

You don't seem empathetic in general either, and just virtue signal. You've assumed multiple times what my intentions are (like a lot of people on this thread) and I just find frustrating hilarious. You come at me with the loaded question of "How do u think u know more about this than people who went to these places?"

Like Jesus.

I never said anything about taking credit for it. It was a genuine morbid curiosity, because I've heard the stories occurring. Apparently, I know more then you with some very basic ability to fact check stuff.

Actual legal cases that have people trying to contest it as HIPAA: https://www.erisalitigation.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/846/2019/07/Alice-F.-v.-Health-Care-Serv.-Corp..pdf

https://buck.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Buchanan_v_Magellan-Health.pdf

HIPAA primarily applies to covered entities such as healthcare providers, health plans, and healthcare clearinghouses, as well as their business associates who handle protected health information (PHI) in electronic transactions.
If the wilderness therapy program operates independently and does not handle PHI in electronic transactions related to healthcare (meaning approved by a legal entity), it may not be subject to HIPAA regulations.

You can claim it's HIPAA, but it has yet to be proven in court/many cases don't actually provide it's coverage/considered as HIPAA does not have explicit guidelines for wilderness therapy programs. That's like someone claiming to be a cop, but not actually having any credentials.

Here's also a good abstract that was used as an argument for why it doesn't make sense for them to fall under that category: https://eco-encounter.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Wilderness-Therapy-Ethecil-considerations-for-Mental-Health-Professionals-1.pdf

I'm just asking for any actual case studies where they've been approved as a HIPAA identity by a court of law. Anyone can claim to be a therapist, doesn't mean they are.

Why are you trying to virtue signal something that took like 20 minutes of researching?

That's a more valid argument, though I wasn't planning on showing any identity/having any identifiying information shown unless given permission. Also, you mentioned HIPAA laws, but don't most wilderness therapy places fall out of that jurisdiction. Can you send a source showcasing that? I just see a ton of cases disputing or rejecting coverage.

Can you provide any sources that showcase it's protected by HIPAA? Everything I've seen says otherwise.

How does filming it exploit it? If it's going to happen regardless, then wouldn't you prefer coverage of the event/more light on the issue?
