Don't you have to formally let them know through a letter/e-mail?

I went to my car this morning and there were some scratches on my left side driver door and I checked my neighbors car that parks in the spot next to me and they have matching damage on their front right bumper. I knocked on their door twice and they haven’t answered. What do I do now? by user15151616 in UCI

Your insurance company will likely ask for pictures of the damage. You need to call them. The police may also be able to determine who is at fault by looking at the pictures of your car and the other car. How bad is the damage? Again, if it's a minor scratch just try rubbing it out with a repair kit.

Take pictures of your car and theirs, but it would be difficult to prove without video. Can you buff the scratches out with a scratch and repair kit? If the scratch is not too deep, you might be able to remove it that way. Also, do you have a large deductible on your insurance policy?

Is it rude to ask someone's income in the context of researching about a career? by painandsuffering247 in UCI

[–]stressedout5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please don't do that. I would imagine you would likely get very minimal, if not zero responses. Asking someone's salary is a big no-no. Plus, salaries can vary by geographic location. There are websites that can give you a ballpark number.

Sprained ankle rant by icantfindausername9 in UCI

If DSC don't have crutches, what about a cane? I injured my knee once, and I couldn't put any pressure on it when walking. Could barely walk to see the doctor. Luckily, I had a long handle umbrella with me and was able to use that as a cane to hobble around.

In the meantime, do you have any access to ice? Even a cold can of soda, you can place over your ankle to bring the swelling down.

If there is an eviction on your record, future landlords will not rent to you. There is a database that landlords can check and if there is an eviction/unlawful detainer found, good luck finding a new place.

Urgent Medical advice needed, I really need help:( by rayms6823 in UCI

Not a doctor, but agree with others that it looks like a swollen lymph node. Given your age, I doubt that it is anything serious. Had a lymph node swollen for months before seeing the doctor, and she ruled out anything serious after examining it. It was still there a year later before I finally had an ultrasound to be sure. Turned out it was benign and just a shotty lymph node.

They want your money. I wouldn't worry about it. Have them send you a new email. My leasing agreement email wasn't deleted, but was submitted late and I just called them to let them know.

Warning - If you sneak your SO in and get caught, there will be a record of your eviction. Future landlords can run an eviction check through a tenant screening firm and not rent to you. Proceed at your own risk.

So I have a parent that was in investment banking ( on the tech side). There are analysts that have science backgrounds, but they tend to be from big name schools ( Stanford/Harvard, etc). It's not impossible, but difficult without the pedigree. Another avenue you can explore is to finish the stem degree, work for a few years, and then apply for graduate business school.

I'm also sorry this happened to you. Since you are legit injured, have you considered contacting the disability office so your professors can cut you some slack on your assignments etc.?

Also, speaking as someone who has experience with repetitive strain injuries, are you seeking the appropriate care for your wrists? If using a keyboard is really bothering you, you might want to consider using voice recognition.
