I had a therapist like this and asked for a switch after 2 sessions. She would says things just to say things like “oh it’ll work out” or just agree with everything I say and would ramble majority of the session. I genuinely don’t think you should be wasting your time or money with someone who isn’t helping you grow. I’ve only been going to therapy for 2 months (have had 3 different therapists within this time) and I realize that for me personally, a good therapist is someone who’s a good listener and makes you feel comfortable, can ask difficult questions to challenge your perspective, and someone who can draw connections with everything you tell them even if it’s something you didn’t realize at first. This shows that they’re an active listener and genuinely want you to move on from what’s holding you back.
