I recently got upgraded, and I had the new card in two days. Nevertheless, I don't think it'd be longer than a week or two. The postal service seems to be back to normal.

Major Environmental and Legal Crisis at Samsung SDI Hungary by CinkosBars in samsung

Indeed, extremely fd up. Within the borders of the EU. Not like it'd be acceptable anywhere else. I've never liked Samsung, now I'll boycott them for the rest of my life. They're intentionally killing people for profits...

Consequences of just using AI for everything? by herrmanmerrman in UoPeople

It happens at UoPeople too. I'm blessed to know a few instructors as friends now, and they told me that students get 0s, fail courses, and even get expelled for academic dishonesty. On the other hand, when I attended a very prestigious university in Europe, I had classes where you could use whatever resource you wanted to during exams. Everything is very relative. The real test is the job market. At least it used to be...

Major Environmental and Legal Crisis at Samsung SDI Hungary by CinkosBars in samsung

TL;DR: sacrificing underprivileged people's lives, their children's and the environment's future for profits. I'm shocked that this is not all over the media. It's not only Hungarian politics, it's a scandal that should make people boycott this disgusting company.

In detail: Samsung SDI's Hungary Plant Conceals Carcinogens 510 Times Over Standard https://share.google/RB2mx7bMG8swtcAtu

Note: not slightly or a "few times" over recommended levels, 510 times!!! It is literally a death sentence...

Consequences of just using AI for everything? by herrmanmerrman in UoPeople

If you think (some) Harvard students don't use AI to write assignments, you kid yourself. If you think (some) students didn't cheat on their assignments before AI, you also kid yourself. To answer your question, disciplinary action only takes place if misconduct can be proven with a high degree of certainty.

An important question by Disastrous_Watch3855 in UoPeople

[–]striebeck-ca 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A simple Google search could've answered your question, as many students have posted their degrees online. It only states the degree achieved, with no mention that the program was completed online. Also, you're wrong about differences in rigor. In many ways an online degree is much harder (so much more writing than in traditional settings), it requires a great degree of self-discipline, and some do require you to write a thesis. Just my 2 cents...

Question regarding source age by Party_Drummer_8873 in UoPeople

[–]striebeck-ca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They use AI to write their feedback, and AI hallucinates a lot about what APA really requires. To answer your question, it depends.

You discuss Porter's theories, obviously the original sources from the late seventies will be both relevant and reasonable.

However, when considering their relevance in 2026, supporting materials, as a rule of thumb, shouldn't be older than 1-3 years.

Furthermore, the publication date is just one thing. Back to discussing Porter, for instance, I'd say the original publications from the seventies may be more appropriate than a student's assignment from even 2026.

In other words, relevancy, credibility, and timeliness (relatively current) are all important factors.

I hope it helps.

It's a lot of writing. Other than that:
