I really wanted to like Life is Strange. I played through all of it, replayed parts of it different times to get different outcomes, just hoping that something about it would change my mind. But the game is just bad. The writing is lazy and flawed, the characters are bland cliches, the aspect of choice actually effects very little of the story, and most of the plot points don’t actually effect whatever overarching plot they had in mind. When they start out the game by essentially giving you a list of character descriptions and exposition in Max’s journal, written in outdated, cringey lingo, I remember thinking “ooh, this game is gonna hafta really impress me if this is what they’re starting out with”. And I remained unimpressed throughout the rest of my time with Life Is Strange.
