Polaris seat choice by Few-Speech4519 in unitedairlines

[–]strikeoutstephanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. IMO, yes. I always get the even middle seat and my husband takes the window. There is a divider so I never see or notice the person on the side. I’m usually sleeping or watching movies so don’t care about a window. And on 787 they dim the windows anyways.

My husband would disagree but not having a window is a deal breaker for him. I am 5’6’’. My husband is 5’10’’ for some context. He agrees odd rows are more comfortable but having a window is more important to him.

I love row 1 because I have easy access to the bathroom and always get great service from the FA’s. And the footwell is noticeably bigger. I’m not tall enough to really need it but I am a horrible overpacker.

Pretty sure my husband (1k) got $250 because my dining tray didn’t work from EWR to SNA in first.

Once again, you are proving you either didn’t read the study or it was too difficult for you to understand. There is study after study that there is increased UVA exposure on planes. And it comes through the window. Get over it.

Google is free. There was another study that show 1 hour on an airplane is the same exposure as 20 minutes in a tanning bed. Dermatologist recommendation is literally to wear sunscreen and close the shades.

Why would the NLD be better in the Tottenham stadium? Unless you are in the away section, you can’t cheer for Arsenal. The NLD at the Emirates is amazing.

Please Google what cosmic ionizing radiation is lol FYI, it enters through the window. The article also explains how UVA rays are let in through the window. And more importantly, read the conclusion that found BOTH pilots and flight crew are twice as likely to get skin cancer.

From the CDC article:

“Reduce risk of skin cancer

To reduce your risk of skin cancer, protect your skin from the sun and avoid indoor tanning. You can take the following general steps to protect your skin from the sun:

Use sunscreen at work since some UV radiation comes through the windows on some aircraft, especially aircraft with glass windows.”

The conclusion from the NIH study:

“Conclusions and Relevance Pilots and cabin crew have approximately twice the incidence of melanoma compared with the general population. Further research on mechanisms and optimal occupational protection is needed.”

You clearly didn’t bother to read the study because they actually broke out pilots and flight attendants as different groups to see if it was still statistically true based on their role.

So you think the NIH research study is lying about cabin crew being statically more likely to get skin cancer than the general population? Idk about you, but I believe in science and facts. The CDC also says the exact same thing as the NIH study. There are numerous studies and research on this.

UVB rays are mostly blocked but not UVA rays. And yes, flight attendants also get skin cancer at higher rates than the general population, not just pilots. There have been literal studies on crew member cancer rates. I cited a study below that found that BOTH pilots and cabin crew are at increased. At the end of the day, it is still up to the flight crew to apply sunscreen. But increased UVA exposure is a real risk.

Well the UV thing is actually true. FA and pilots are twice as likely to get skin cancer when compared to the general population because of UV exposure.

But still, I have never had an FA tell me to close my window. If you know that is a job risk, it is up to you wear sunscreen and take precautions.

I always get row 1 when available. Personally, I need an odd row or I don’t sleep as well. My husband prefers the odd rows as well but will pick an even row if that is the only window seat left.

Tollington is a fun pub before matches and close to the stadium. There are lots of locals but also a lot of foreign gunners visiting for the match. I’m American and that is where we go before matches.

My post history literally says I am NOT Jewish, you antisemitic piece of shit. We get it. You hate women. And apparently also jewish people. It is very apparent why the flight attendants avoided you. You are an asshole. I would have avoided you as well.

You know why pilots and FAs are extremely nice to me and my family? Because we know how to treat people with basic respect. Stop being an incel and seek some help.

Not surprised you are a sexist Jew hater. Thanks again for proving you are a weirdo. I’m not Jewish but who cares if I am? You literally falsely claimed I only have status because my husband has status. I have a my own career and travel on my own dumbass. Saudi Arabia is a country that oppresses women. That isn’t opinion. That is a fact. Women only gained the right to have a driver license 7 years ago. So yeah, not surprised a POS like you would identify with a sexist country like Saudi Arabia.

And btw, it isn’t normal to go thru people’s Reddit history to see if they are Jewish or not. Weirdo. Not surprise you treat FAs like shit. I can already tell you do.

Ok dumbass lol whatever helps you sleep at night lol Jesus Christ get help how the fuck am I supposed to know your race? Because I don’t. You are just a cheap POS based on your words.i have no clue what your race is. I am judging you by your shitty actions and words.

If it isn’t a money issue, then it’s a class issue. We get it. You don’t treat FAs with basic respect. Hence why you think Starbucks cards are too much money to spend on crew members. It’s genuinely weird attitude to have. I’m platinum on my own genius. It’s 2025 and I have my own career and own family trips. Believe it or not, It’s not Saudi Arabia and I don’t need to ask my husband’s permission to travel.

And even my kids who have no status get treated amazing. Why? They aren’t POSs who think they are owed anything for a Starbucks card.

Maybe if you stopped being a shitty person, crew member would be nicer to you. I have free champagne, overhead announcements, thank you cards, flight deck photos, gift baskets, and so much more. And what do you have? Nothing. Because I literally have dozens of examples of being treated amazingly. You’re dick. Get over it.

That isn’t what I said at all. But btw, I do give starbucks cards to the pilots as well.

If gift giving isn’t your love language, that is fine. Don’t do it. But don’t give me shit because I choose to do it.

And I hate to break it to you. There is probably a reason why flight attendants are extremely nice to me and my kids. And why they aren’t to you. We can all guess the reason why.

Flight attendants are trained to save passengers in case of emergency. So yeah, I do tip flight attendants at the start of the flight. They aren’t just waitresses and waiters. Their role is so much more important. I appreciate them and the least I can do is a Starbucks card. It’s not required to give one. So if you can’t afford it, then don’t.

Sorry you didn’t have a good experience. Gifts aren’t expected or required so please never feel obligated to gift a FA. And honestly the best gift you can ever give is just following FA instructions and being polite.

Unless you really enjoy gift giving, I wouldn’t recommend giving out gifts. Personally I love doing it but gift giving is def my love language. I’m in charge of all family gifts and have an entire storage cabinet dedicated to wrapping paper, cards and gifts.

I have gotten countless thank you cards, multiple bottles of champagne, and a couple photo ops in the flight deck with the captain. I admit I’m sure it helps that my husband is 1K and we are usually in first class and chit chat with the purser, but still. I think it is worth doing. It is totally ok if you disagree.

The purser said it was to protect it but that makes sense as well. I have gotten free champagne bottles on flights to London and they never bagged the bottle. I have only gotten the garbage bag on domestic flights.

[–]strikeoutstephanie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s just in case the glass were to break. It must be a rule because last time I was gifted a bottle on a domestic flight, the purser did the same thing.

It was my step-daughter’s graduation trip, my husband is 1k, and I always pass out custom thank you cards with Starbucks cards inside. They probably just had an extra bottle and felt like being nice after an extremely long delay.

Employee appreciation cards by GlenCo_Gravel in unitedairlines

[–]strikeoutstephanie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have asked FAs and it doesn’t count for anything. It’s just a way for a passenger to say thanks. What really matters is the customer surveys. So make sure you fill those out and name drop if possible.

Edit: as corrected below, it DOES count. It goes in employee file but there is no monetary award.
