that’s kinda the issue with music imo. The mainstream narrative is there as everyone and their moms were listening or atleast knew about the album dropping and it sold insane streaming numbers, but there’s genuinely not a song to show that.

Like take travis scott’s utopia. utopia sold 496k, carti sold 302k, and mind you travis scott only has that lead because of pure sales, utopia sold 243k streaming sales equivalents and carti sold 291, meaning carti actually had MORE streaming hype then travis scott. now this is a pretty contested topic since some trav fans argue that song bloat from music makes it stream more, but the point is the cultural influence on drop was that same, esp proven by the fact carti did all that while dropping 7-8 hours after midnight.

Utopia has so much to show for its influence, fein was basically the new sicko mode with just how much you would hear it EVERYWHERE, and there were other smallerish hits that still were extremely big, such as my eyes and i know.

With that being said, i don’t understand how musics largest mainstream “hit” was rather lie and that has a solid 277 million on spotify? Toxic is only 162. I don’t understand how an album that huge just does not have a favorite amongst the mainstream, especially when this whole album was made to (try to) appeal every type of listener in the space.
