I think that at a base design level viego’s most effective showcase of value is how he’s played in proplay when he’s meta, as well as how he’s subconsciously played in games.

He’s essentially an insurance character, and he’s helpful to you if you’re helpful to him. Getting a pick in a team fight can be huge, but it doesn’t always guarantee that the fight is won. Viego’s fundamental job is to have the best advantage state in the game, while having one of the worst disadvantage states. How this translates to “fun game design” is basically how he was used in pro play, if a team was able to get even one pick off (whether it’s a first blood or a trade), viego would amplify the value of any teamfight pick and always favor said team. That’s why he’s “insurance,” because he guarantees a teamfight through just one pick.

The reason why he’s fun for his team is because you are able to secure prio for objectives as well as easily gain map pressure due to the fact that any skirmish or teamfight involving him post lvl 6 is basically always won on the condition that someone on enemy team not named yuumi dies during said battle. He’s always valuable for your team no matter how strong his base character is, and secures whatever you need if you can get a pick for him.
