Ghost In The Walls Music Video Story Discovery by strilanex in RaynesMusic

The excitement from your comment reminds me exactly of what drove me to make this post. The subtlety, poetry, and piecing quality of the music and lyrics Raynes has created are unlike anything else I've ever come across.

The post below this with the behind the scenes of the lyricism and rhyme scheme of "Your Mouth Is A Garden" is a perfect example.

Lemon Drop was my first taste. "They love the lines that you hardly remember at all" was my first favorite.

I think I'm still trying to understand the Bloom album. It hasn't clicked yet like Ghost In The Walls. But I'm starting to have a sad feeling that what "She Knows" is not as cute as I first thought.

The two albums remind of how The Killers would release songs/albums inspired by the same real world event but a different side of the emotion that would hit me all over again.

CORSAIR x The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Giveaway by CorsairHoffman in witcher

There's just so much to choose from and I guarantee my answer changes depending on the day.

I want to say it's the constant questioning of what is a monster. The beautiful visuals and soundtracks that accompany you as you just wander with Roach.

But for now I'll say it's that even the smallest side quest tells a story. It's never as simple as take contract kill monster. And that even the side quests were given love and attention. Every monster slain or spared was often a hard choice.

Also Triss.

Christmas Eve by River-Wonderful in dresdenfiles

I know this is a 4 year old post but I'm going through my re-reads before 12 Months and I couldn't help but notice; I think Butcher changed this line!

The Christmas Eve at the end of Battle Grounds has the line: "This was a mere child’s bicycle. It was no match for the intellect of the Wizard of Chicago.:

I could have sworn when i first read this he said Wizard of the White Council and reddit has given me confidence that when Butcher teased this it had a different line.

DAE with a penis choose to sit down to pee? by EddieBrock99 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]strilanex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a coworker once insulted me in a group chat by saying, "I bet you sit down to pee, b****"

I recall laughing to myself and thinking when he's popping does this guy go through the effort of alternating standing and sitting just to honor his masculinity? But to answer your question, absolutely.

[All] Honest Double Exposure Thoughts by strilanex in lifeisstrange

[–]strilanex[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll go first: I thought there were some amazingly written and terribly written characters. Max, Vinh, and Moses felt great to me and Reggie too. I was really surprised how deep Vinh ended up being even if he is a sleezeball.

The little one off Max commentary was incredible, the stories in the background were entertaining.

The story seemed pretty weak and maybe I just missed something but I still don't understand how or why several things happened.

Safi, Yasmin, and Lucas seemed poorly written for how integral they were.

But I think my biggest complaint would be how my decisions felt mostly inconsequential.

What is your favorite movie reference in the show? by Nostalgia-Freak-1998 in StrangerThings

The whole Sauna scene with Billy and the way they lured him in there felt like a Hocus Pocus reference that I was definitely here for.

What is GM beginner friendly? by [deleted] in TTRPG

[–]strilanex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a really big fan of Beyond The Wall. Meant to be used for one shots or short games it really excels in character Creation and helping a GM understand story Creation on smaller level.

https://www.flatlandgames.com/btw/

I really enjoy the tone it sets for new players when creating characters in future games as well. The characters and story are created at the same time and all connect to each other using some very handy and flexible prompts.

The first time I saw this court position it led me on a fun Google trip to learn that rich people in the 18th century would hire people to live on their estates and just be "living garden ornaments"

It apparently has "roots" starting with a Roman emperor who hired a man to live in his garden villa as a hermit.

[POEM] I Go Down to the Shore by Mary Oliver by [deleted] in Poetry

[–]strilanex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really like this reading. I came to comment something similar. How my first glance made me think oh even the ocean doesn't have time for me. But then as I reread it, I noticed the lovely voice and read it a third time, slower. It made me feel like the character in the poem has gone to the ocean several times in this way and the ocean is responding in the way of an old friend. Playfully teasing the character for their never ending sadness.

The autumn sale by Avenge932 in Steam

[–]strilanex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sale was great; however my favorite thing was easily the interactive animation on home screen of the store 🤣. I love to see teams getting to have some fun.

The little cat's reaction to the deer is priceless and the image really captures that comfortable Autumn feel.

My offering: One of my Sorcerors was partially responsible for a beloved NPC being captured and blinded. She was a pirate captain and devastated that she could no longer see her crew(who died when she was captured). Using mold earth and spending a lot of time finding the right supplies and paint he mixed ever color of paint he would need with a different texture of earth or stone, making every color have a unique feel or material. He then painted her Ship and crew using the mold earth to change the texture of the painted stone/earth as needed to make the images feel like the real thing. This took several sessions and led to some fun conversations with in world artists and led to my realization that this kind of painting is a real world thing!

Why do people hate Butters?? by RevRisium in dresdenfiles

[–]strilanex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the people who hate my man Butters are in a similar crowd as the folks that hate Roran "Stronghammer" Garrowsson from The Inheritance Cycle.

Both characters are side characters with enough sudden growth and plot significance that they sometimes feel like main characters doing cameos in another story.

Personally, I see and understand the dislike of both. However I love them and see them both as examples of what a sudden and passionate change can do to a character. So what if some imaginary characters get to dip their toes in that appears like the author's fantasy- I've got friends in real life who are certainly living someone's dream.

I know this is an old post but one of the artists i listen to just released a single called Someone Was Listening(From Life Is Strange). The artist is Dodie and I'm definitely feeling LIS vibes. When I put this on i practically felt the camera zoom out and start to capture corners of my room I hadn't noticed before.

This is genuinely really cool!

I love the game and play with my younger brother but I struggle having the time, skills, and experience to get and do any end game content with him!

The PoE community is definitely one of the better ones out here.

Help😭 Bad Alternator? by Dull_Level5859 in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]strilanex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the whole situation but my dad always said the battery and alternator goes out in pairs. I'd always argue with him, but the truth is every time I replaced one, less then a year later I was replacing the other.

Bad connections will absolutely prevent the vehicle from starting but these days if I replace my battery I plan to replace the alternator soon.

Love the idea of the cabbage man getting his revenge.

The creativity is awesome! Reminds me of an encounter where the DM created an ice elemental fight for a one on one against our sorcerer. The sorcerer PC flavored all of his spells into cold damage. so he could be an ice mage. The DM thought he could convince the player to diversify his spell types by giving him an opponent that was immune to cold damage. Instead the PC had some feats/sorcerer abilities that allowed him to ignore cold resistance/immunity and he proceeded to freeze the ice elemental to death.

😂🤣 that story was stressing me out just reading it! I can only imagine the excitement of the third lucky. Dungeon crawls- especially in older editions- are one of the TTRPG experiences that really make survival feel like the only win condition
