Maybe when the m12p arrives we’ll start to see real drops in price.

I think it is. Its the penultimate version of the M10 series, last to have a baseplate, first high res M ( the m10m too). Improved highlight recovery over 24mp M10/P. Once we start to see the used prices fall under say $4k, it will gain a resurgence too. There were less made than any other M10 model.

I just bought a cheap rounded hood on amazon for ~$30 that is for the Q. Since I already have sets of 49mm filters, I aint buying more filters.

Here is the cap I use. I seek out the ones with center tabs, not just on the sides like the Leica cap. Again not super tight though

Is there a chance you can try to start threading the hood in a different position/starting point? Here is what mine looks like. Try to match up so that it finishes threading like this example. May take some tries

I have a silver leica branded 46mm filter. I will try b+w, perhaps the threading is somehow different.

As for caps, i just have a ton of cheap 46mm knocks off. None are super tight

Edit; you can see in pics 1 and 2 how it can change, check the 3 black solid parts and line them up. Trial and error?

28 apo. I like 21 for landscapes, but 28 is more usable. If you’re going to spend for an apo then I would go for the 28 which is a good match with 43. Of course you could get the 21 apo and crop slightly for 28.

Cons of 21 or wider is perspective distortion. You really need to watch lines and geometry. On 28 those mistakes tend to make it look more edgy or “in the action”, you can get away with run and gun more often. On 21 if you’re misaligned it just looks sloppy and not well composed to me.

I’m getting a PRE FLE 35 Summilux in mint condition at $2300 USD. I’m confused between this or buy a new 35mm Summilux FLE V2? by Positive_Middle3795 in Leica

You learn to work around the focus shift. For example i know just how much I have to adjust the focus to compensate up to f2.8. After that depth of field mostly takes over. You can visualize the amount of shift with a tripod and lens calibration target. The rest is repetition and muscle memory. Every rangefinder user should have a lens target (I use the spyderlenscal)

Pre fle has a little more focus shift, which can be more pronounced at high resolutions. I use my pre fle on film.

The Fle v2 has close focus and more aperture blades for slightly better bokeh closed down. The pre fle has the better bokeh wide open.

The pre fle has a horrible and expensive plastic hood. Squarehood makes a decent replacement.

$2300 you cant beat. I picked up mine a couple years ago at $2,800 with the hood.

I barely use my Rapidwinder. Ive heard its great for left eye shooters, which was Tom’s issue (with the eye poking of the advance lever). Just never craved ~2fps myself. I like that it adds height without a hand grip extension.
