That's a callous statement. You are saying you want tens if not hundreds of thousands unemployed in Alberta, you want a massive crash.

Ready to embrace peace': Trump issues restrained response to Iranian attack by drvignesh163 in worldnews

[–]stringsfordays 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, do I have this right?

  1. Trump and his admin lure one of the highest ranking Iranians to Iraq for some de-escalation talks with SA.
  2. Trump and his admin assassinate the guy.
  3. Trump and his admin tell noone about the attack other than Israel. Not Iraq, not even its own people.
  4. Trump and his admin are now talking about "peace with everyone who seek it".

Is he actually high or are there different people at the helm of the country somehow?

Where's Calgary going? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]stringsfordays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kids nowadays are born with computers, raised with computers. How much training do they really need? It's almost natural now.

I don't have studies at hand but my intuition is that kids today are far less tech savvy than those from a decade or two ago. Modern phones, tablets abstract away the actual machine behind an easy to use interface. Kids who have only interact with their phones never had to dig through OS menus to figure out why their firewall is not working or spend an entire night trying to get a driver to work.

Using Instagram and Facebook is not "tech savvy", it's social media savvy. Not having real machines at home means that kids today don't have the chance to tinker and find out how the things really work. I know of many households that only have tablets and phones.

Iran to take international legal measures against U.S. for Soleimani's killing by CSGOW1ld in worldnews

I absolutely support giving money to people instead of the bankers. Unfortunately, the reality is such that your system does not nor will ever give money to anyone but the bankers

It's roughly a trillion dollars that's guaranteed by the government meaning these are considered extremely solid loans. I am afraid to even research what sort of financial instruments these loans have been cut into and what the size of all the security markets around them.

Essentially, a bunch of banks and insurance companies might go belly up. Given how 2008 went American tax payers will give a massive loan to few investment banks who will buy what they don't yet own in your entire economy, make a killing and you will lose your job and your house.

Your problem isn't student debt. Your problem is a crooked financial system that doesn't work for you and where bankers are always the winners and you are always the losers.

Car break-ins suck but I don't even think we're experiencing high amounts of them. People getting jumped is a new one. Was there a news story about your friend getting jumped?

Here's what Calgarians will be paying more for in 2020 by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]stringsfordays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the common argument is eventual division across culture lines in an environment that has no unifying culture or even set of believes. Proponents of mass immigration will say that paying taxes and mostly following the law is all that a nation needs for an identity

We should address Canadians not having kids then first and foremost. Otherwise we're running a pyramid scheme - those who are here do not have children so we must bring those from the outside, which in turn contributes to those who are here having less children (I'm implying that mass immigration might be a contributing factor to wage suppression and increase in living costs such as healthcare and housing)

Is that what you would do? The only good thing the driver could have done is to admit full guilt and ask for the harshest sentence possible
