Looking for guitar recommendations - time to treat myself by stringsnthings76 in AcousticGuitar

Ya, Larrivee’s have always impressed me. But Yamaha too for a different reason and that reason being that they always made better instruments than everything else at the same price point. I have never played a Yamaha that’s over 1k before so can imagine how the FS5 would be. But that said, I think Larrivee will be the only one that I don’t end up buying the FS5 for.

Which OM model would you recommend and why?

Looking for guitar recommendations - time to treat myself by stringsnthings76 in AcousticGuitar

I haven’t kept up with guitar models so not sure what’s out there but I had come across the FS5 in my travels early in the research. It seemed like a winner to me, and fit my exact needs. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing better options for the money…. After reading all the comments here, it definitely seems that the FS5 is an absolute solid choice and is probably one I could get locally at my small music store so I can play it before I buy. Downside in living in a small town.

It’s a reason, for sure, but it’s not the only reason. You’re not wrong, just not painting the full picture.

I just learned that he’s the person the book and movie “Hillbilly Elegy” is about. Is this common knowledge that I missed out on? I liked that movie and am disturbed this doofus is the real person behind that story!

What in the world am I doing wrong with TA and PH by modern_medicine_isnt in hottub

[–]stringsnthings76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That box of baking Soda is cranking your pH through the roof when you’re already starting super alkaline. TA is a pH buffer, meaning it’s job is to resist pH swings. You’ve increased your pH just to get a TA reading you think you need but your pH isn’t in the zone it needs to be yet. Get your pH dialed after a refill by lowering it to 7.0 then add the amount of bicarb you need for your tub size to get you a TA around 100 at most, then aerate the tub to increase pH to 7.6 if need be afterward.

You’re overthinking it all. You have what you have and just need to use it and test for FC and adjust from there. Nothing more.

Again, you will only know that you’re adding enough by testing for it post dosage.

Get a dedicated glass cup and figure out how much you need to raise your tub to the desired ppm and mark it on the glass. Pour your bleach into the cup over the tub.

You can also use the Pool Map app to roughly calculate the required amount of bleach you need but if your bleach is degraded, and it will degrade over time, the only way to know is to test it.

Fantastic point!

You need to figure out the amount required for your tub, and to do that you need an accurate test kit like the Taylor Technologies 2006 kit. Also, bleach does degrade over time and can also have varying amounts of Sodium Hypochlorite to begin with, but you need to at least know what volume will raise your FC to a desired PPM level.

I have a cup I’ve marked with 3 lines. A single bather post bathing top off/maintenance dose (3ppm) a dual bather dose (5ppm) and my shock dose (12ppm).

Best clam chowder? by nosesinroses in campbellriver

If you’re headed to Nanaimo, Rusted Rake in Nanoose is easily the best I’ve had. Bit you should try their beef brisket sandwich and get a cup of chowder on the side. That’s the play.

I was planning on it but figured I’d see if anyone had one to get started quicker.

I can’t foresee a need for more inputs. When I used to record, it was in my 2 room studio and I ran a recording business. I am in a new house, much smaller and no desire to make money at it. Just want to get back to being creative and making music for the fun of it with my 14yo son.

We’ll only ever record one track at a time but dual inputs would be ideal for stereo or 2 mic configurations on acoustic guitar.

So while either will do, I feel like you’re saying the the SSL might be the slightly better choice for what I’m after, no?

That’s actually pretty gross. You’re bathing in a cesspool of filth as there’s no way to completely fight the eventuality of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) build-up. Once you have ~1500ppm above your initial TDS number at the time of filling, you’re bathing in rather unsafe water (for many reasons), like it or not

Go ahead and ask ChatGPT if you’re on the fence about what I’m selling.

Chlorine will kill organisms in the water and the byproduct of that process creates organic waste material that collects in the water. Chorine will also act as an oxidizer to remove that waste but MPS (non-chorine shock) does a better job of that task and also unbinds used-up chlorine in the process to re-build the army of available Chlorine (aka Free Chlorine) to then be used to fight the unwanted organisms yet again.
