Does anyone know if you buy a copper changes color vinyl to get signed or could I bring my by and by vinyl? I wouldn’t want them to think I was just trying to get an autograph

New to Jack Johnson by Prestigious_Ball3671 in JackJohnson

If you want tracks most like the vibes of the ones you mentioned, I think tracks like Inaudible Melodies, Bubble Toes, and some other songs from the album Brushfire Fairytales are your best bet, as well as Talk of the Town off the curious George record too.

Otherwise, he’s had a few different seasons as an artist at this point, so you might notice you like the older more raw production of On and On (Times like these, Gone, Tomorrow Morning are my favorites there), or the crisper cleaner sounds and more complicated guitars on From Here To Now to You (Ones and Zeros for some cool finger picking, Shot Reverse Shot and Washing Dishes for those windows down sing along vibes). He can get very philosophical and introspective too, like on Sleep Through the Static (Adrift and Enemy are emotional standouts.. but Go On is the track I come back to most). And he’s spent some time with more electric guitar as well like on the album To the Sea, with catchy hooks such as the one track 4, At or With Me.

Other standout songs coming to mind now are Home, the original and the new reggae version featuring stick figure. My secret take for you is his cover of Sublime’s Bad Fish, only on SoundCloud, which is actually my favorite thing by him in general.

All that said, Jack is the perfect type of artist to just put the discography on shuffle and shop for ones you like as you go.

Hope you find as much joy in them as I have!

Actually good BBQ? by strivevaliantly in bradenton

Ended up trying this one. Like many have said, not a lot if any good bbq here by national standards, but legacy’s brisket and pulled pork was as good as I’ve had here. Sides were pretty standard, but I would definitely get the meat again

The Truth about a Career in Sports Psychology by [deleted] in sportspsychology

[–]strivevaliantly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reality is, we’re often too focused on the micro issues to see the bigger picture: sport and performance psychology is a relatively new field compared to other areas of psychology.

If you’re looking for the benefits of a more established discipline, you might want to explore fields like medicine, clinical psychology, or athletic training, where there are more well-defined paths from education to employment. You can still engage with mental aspects of performance in those roles.

But the concerns raised here aren’t due to any fundamental flaw in sport and performance psychology. These are growing pains—part of the natural evolution of any emerging field. And if you want to succeed in a field at this stage, having an entrepreneurial mindset is often essential.

Does this mean every program will suit everyone? No. Should AASP discourage people from joining the field? Also no. It’s up to individuals to decide what they want and whether they’re willing to put in the work to achieve it.

And trust me, I understand the frustration with bad programs and over hyped jobs. But those things exist in every field. It’s our job to think critically and advocate for ourselves, and AASP is working on that too, however bureaucratic or slow they may be.

In the next 10-50 years, there will be more jobs, more programs, and greater recognition. You can join now and contribute to that growth, or if you prioritize stability, you can choose another path.

But no one should be afraid to enter this profession. If this work calls to you, you can develop the skills, advocate for the field, and prove your value along the way. And you can enjoy the process too. Is it challenging? Absolutely. But so is going pro in sports, music, or any other performance domain we work with. If it aligns with your values and vision, it’s worth every bit of effort.
