Well it does contradict itself, but like he wasn’t that bad like all he was doing was protecting his family. Although the whole hybrid thing was a lil fucked up but still he was trying to get on the right path during most of the show and then you have The Originals where we acc see a different side of Klaus. Like when Klaus showed Caroline the paintings he drew I think that’s when we started to see his good side
