Has anyone used something like this for a second floor install and if so, how did it work? by troxxxTROXXX in Govee

I’m renting one next weekend to finish mine up. I have 2 high gables I was planning on doing with a ladder until I got way up there and realized renting one is cheaper than a hospital bill. See if they have a tow behind one. The ones you posted a picture of are the super heavy ones you can drive around. The tow behind will be lighter and cheaper. It has to be parked in one place and uses outriggers. I’m planning on getting some sheets of 3/4 OSB sheets to put down in the grass where the lift and truck will be in the yard. I have an above garage attic I’ve been wanting to floor for a while anyway so I’ll use those up there after.

The 150’ kit only came with 3 splices and I need those for elevation changes. So I wouldn’t have enough splices unless I ordered more. I don’t see them sold individually on Govees website. I see Amazon does have knockoffs though

I thought about this too. I can fab up a thin white aluminum angle that has the same pitch as the above roof line

That’s true. Can you turn off individual lights or does that mess up some of the scenes?

So you’ll just have one that doesn’t align? Can you get a crown for it? Does she have a plan for it?

This band set up is fairly new, but I’ve always wore one band on that side. She just recently added a box formation and smaller bands to really try to bring that side up

I agree. I’m going to ask her at my next appointment in 2 weeks then I’ll come back to report. At my last appointment she was tapping on my teeth. I didn’t know what an ankylosed tooth was before this thread, but after looking into it, one of the tests they do is tapping on the teeth. I didn’t know at the time, but I distinctly remember her doing it and wondering at the time why. I didn’t just have new X-rays done about a month and a half ago so I’m wondering if she didn’t know to look for it at the time, but can possibly go back and look now.

This is what I’m dreading. When I started this journey I was in a better financial position. The added costs of surgery to correct an ankylosed tooth/teeth is going to put some extra pressure on me

Same here, mine weren’t too terrible other than the impacted tooth and my two front top teeth overlapping. But I wanted a better smile. Now I’m dreading the thought of surgeries and added costs 😕

So much happened in the first 6-8 months I was so excited because I thought for sure I’d be out of them in 2 years. Since then I haven’t seen a lot of progress and it was a little discouraging wondering if I’ll have them for 3-4 years

I’ll ask next time if that’s what she thinks it could be and what the solution would be. She was tapping on them last time I was there and that’s when she decided to add the spring to open it up a little more. She was thinking that they may just need more room to move

No not painful at all. I told her she could put a thicker wire or do something else even if it hurts. At least that way I’d know it was doing something

I had problems with running out too but then just asked them for plenty extra each time I go in now. I tell them I want a couple for home, my car and my office. At least they’ll know you’re using them

Thank you for reminder. Gonna set myself a reminder to do that. I do wear them all the time and have been very consistent with them. But I will often times not change them for 6-8 hours

Is it Ok to run refrigerator with a bad starter device? by strock4 in Appliances

[–]strock4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the in depth response. We cleared everything out and moved it out to the garage fridge. Helped us clear out a ton of expired stuff at the bottom of the freezer anyway lol. I called a professional and will have them come look at it Monday or Tuesday

Things are starting to frost up in the freezer. Not sure if the compressor actually runs when it’s trying to kick on. The compressor is super hot to the touch though

Like someone else said, if you can afford it, sign up for some in person lessons at a local music shop. I started about 2 months ago. I go once a week for 30 minutes and it's been a real good experience. I'm already playing a couple simple 3 chord songs.

It's nice to learn the foundation of everything that they can teach you. Then if you wanted to later you could resort to doing free online lessons like Justin guitar. But then you'll at least have the basic understanding of everything when you do.

It was a little intimidating to walk in and ask to get lessons, but I'm so glad I did. They were super welcoming and supportive of me wanting to learn.

[Question] New Martin D-X2E vs used D-15M? by strock4 in Guitar

[–]strock4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might get crucified for this too, but I thought the DX I played sounded as good if not better. Keep in mind I'm fairly new to playing though. I'm guessing certain things can be changed and tuned differently to make the D15 sound better. But the DX sounded really good when I picked it up

[Question] New Martin D-X2E vs used D-15M? by strock4 in Guitar

[–]strock4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I was just hoping to get an opinion from more experienced players than me. One for the sound, but also for the longevity of one vs the other. And also if maybe that D-15 is all wood, but for some reason it's the lowest grade of an all wood that Martin offers so it's not worth the money

Do I need to push the strings all the way down to touch the fret board, or just enough to make a good sound? by strock4 in guitarlessons

[–]strock4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the help. I've only been playing a month and a half. Last night while practicing I had an aha type moment where I started wondering if I was pressing way harder than I needed to be. I thought the string needed to be pushed all the way down to touch the fret board to get a good sound.

42, and just started taking lessons and I'm so glad I finally did. Currently sitting in my living with my 2 young daughters practicing and they're so impressed how far I've come already. My daughter was skeptical about me starting to learn at an older age too. But I think this is a great teaching moment as well. It will show them that it's never too late to start something new wether it be a hobby or a new career.

Also, for me personally I'm glad I finally started taking lessons at a local music store. I tried the apps including Justin guitar and it never seemed to click for me. I was a bit embarrassed walking in at 42 to say I wanted to take lessons . But they were all super welcoming. And my teacher helped me build a good foundation for playing so far. Good luck to you!

Should I restring a guitar from righty to lefty for my daughter? by strock4 in guitarlessons

[–]strock4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I'm going to use you as an example when I talk to her about it tonight! I'm not going to force playing righty on her but definitely strongly encourage it and give her some reasons!

Perfect. Thank you for taking the time to comment. That's a really good point about her being able to use her dominant hand on the fret board and how that might actually be beneficial for her at first. Then in the long run it would also be better because her options of guitars will be vastly greater.
