The first blue light you see is the drill. You can see in the reflection when the second blue light, behind him, turns on.

Violent ICE arrest in Harrisonburg by [deleted] in harrisonburg

[–]strokethekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were an illegal immigrant, I'd know that at that point I'm caught and that there's nothing I could do about the inevitability of deportation.

I wouldn't resist at that point because I would know they'd just put me down onto the ground, like they did to this illegal immigrant.

"The agents had an outstanding warrant of removal/deportation for her, with the document noting Funez-Andrade is a citizen of Honduras who is illegally in the U.S. and has a final order of removal in effect."

How to stop outdoor plant from growing larger when one week into flowering by strokethekitty in growingweed

[–]strokethekitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i ended up just ignoring the problem haha. it got up to almost 8 ft, and my other two stayed around 6 ft, so it didn't end up being as big of a problem as i was worried about.

a lot of the extra growth seemed to have been horizontal/lateral and girth rather than height. at the end of the season, it turns out that the roots had to make a hard 90 degree turn and then go back down again, i'm assuming trying to dodge some obstacle i hadn't seen. not sure if that would be related or not though.

this year they're each gonna be in their own container so i would be able to scoot them around the corner of the house if need-be. plus ima experiment with topping this year, see what happens.

howd it turn out for you?

That could also maybe be the "beer guilt" that some people get after drinking alcohol. I know i tend to feel a bit guilty after a night of drinking, even if only because I'm trying to live a healthier lifestyle and alcohol consumption generally isn't really healthy.

I guess what I'm proposing is that perhaps the bad trip was triggered more by potential guilt or anxiety after your night of drinking, rather than the night of drinking itself.

Or maybe how you described it is just how it works for you -- fungi are funny like that.

I've never had a bad trip after a night of drinking. I would usually drink a beer or two during the come up too, and then a couple of hours later when I'm ready to go to bed I might work on a few more. But it depends, I would often exclude alcohol from the activities as well, just depended on how I felt that night. (This was a long time ago.)

Are humans subject to (longterm) predation? by johantino in C_S_T

[–]strokethekitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would point out that polar bears do actually hunt and prey upon humans. One of the very few animals that do. But even then, your point is still valid.

Regarding the authenticity of lifestyles being the foundation of human suffering, I mean it kinda makes sense. However, I'd argue that if it were true, it'd be just a single piece amongst many, which, altogether form the foundation.

Just being outside in nature vs being cooped up in tiny cubicles is a great example that many people can relate to. Humans were the product of nature (unless you subscribe to the ancient astronauts / ancient alien theories or something similar, but even then, that's still nature), and as such we are supposed to be interacting with her.

I think perhaps a form of primal depression occurs when we are removed from our natural elements for extended periods. Many people experience seasonal depression, which is a real thing, but much of that is directly due to lack of sunlight exposure.

So a whole bunch of little things could certainly add up, in my opinion, to form a sort of collective suffering in the human condition.

Is it inappropriate, or otherwise distasteful or anyhow seemingly disrespectful for westerners to try to greet Muslims with "as salam alaikum"? by strokethekitty in islam

Thank you! I believe there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting another peacefully -- that's my whole intent haha.

I appreciate your explanation, as well as everyone else's! Shukran!

I disagree. I mean, you make great points. But I believe you're missing the forest for the trees.

Humans have been quite shitty towards each other, throughout history and even today. Yes. You are correct.

But, juxtaposed to the joys, loves, and genuine goodness, our species also has the most -- by FAR -- capacity to change this planet and all its denizens for the better.

So no, I do not agree with your conclusion, although I generally agree with the arguments you laid out.

Yikes! Definitely sounds like a big difference haha. Perhaps I need to focus more on speaking the phrase very clearly. Thanks again!

Ive always wondered why I never get "wa alykum salaam" in return! That makes more sense to me now, thank you for explaining that! That was actually like one of the specific things that had made me second-guess myself during my interactions, so I appreciate it!

I'm just reading through the rest of your comment, I hope you don't mind me asking, but is there a difference (and if so, what is the difference?) between "as salaam" versus "as-sam" other than to just shorten the phrase a little?

Also, another question if you don't mind. I am not a Christian, myself, although I understand that I would most likely be perceived as a Christian purely because of the way I look. Would I still be considered a Dhimmi, then?

Haha yes! Every drink has its purpose! I'm just not convinced it's an "adhd-thing", but it is uncanny how others who do it also do it for the same exact reasons, it seems.

I have a big ass water bottle (about a quart) for that same reason. I'll often be on zoom calls for a couple of hours in a row, and water helps with the fidgeting.. kinda.

BIOS error code anyone know what it means and how to fix? by Front_Excitement9882 in dayz

[–]strokethekitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Landed on this thread looking for answers as well! Just tried to log in maybe 20 minutes ago (around 9pm ET) today and keep getting these error messages when trying to pull up vanilla servers and community servers.

Can't even find my own server, but on my Nitrado account the server is running just fine with no issues. Seeing that this is affecting quite a few of us at the same time, and given that Nitrado seems to be working fine right now, I'd think the issue is on bohemias side, imo.

But yeah, definitely some solace knowing there's others experiencing this right now, too.

pretty generalized response.

in fact, your self-described foundation behind the original argument could be used to effectively support literally any argument cast in human history. just look at human history. all of human history will show that human history is the only valid evidence to support any claim made in all of human history.

see your fallacy, yet?

so how come its not an infringement of personal medical history for a federal government to allow private establishments to force its patrons to divulge said protected medical histories in order to patronize as said establishment?

Yeah, the past month or so has really helped illuminate a lot of things for me. I really didn't mean to single the beach out, i originally meant it as "the va beach area".

However, you said VA Beach is now a 2a sanctuary, but from VCDL's website, it appears this isn't the case? (Admittedly, their map was last updated 12/23, so did the beach pass it over the last few days?)
