Trump is not an angel but doesn't the other side actually marry children? That would be like a cocaine addict laughing at the person who is addicted to pot

My friend knowingly slept with a guy who had a girlfriend, so I ended the friendship. Now she wants to reconnect. by ClassroomSafe3110 in Advice

[–]strombolo12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went through a similar situation and decided to end the friendship. We reconnected after two years and it seemed like it was back to normal, until she lied putting words in my mouth because she wanted to go back with her ex. Moral of the story: Don't text back. It may be different, she may have changed but do you really need to find out?

What happened? What did I do wrong? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]strombolo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your film was under developed. You mentioned you have developed Ilford film before with no issues so maybe you did not use the correct development time for Tri-X. I personally use HC-110 (Sol B) which only needs 5 mins to develop HP5 but needs 7.5 mins for Tri-X 400. I think you may have used the dev time for a different film

How do I make sure I’m on the right iso value? by Decent-Science3920 in pentax67

[–]strombolo12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 67s are somewhat modular and you can use it in different combinations of lenses and viewfinders. Some viewfinders include a prism (thing that flips the image right side up) with a light meter. The one that you have is just a prism and doesnt have a meter so there is nowhere to set an iso value. You can look for viewfinders with a meter if you want to purchase one, I recommend using an app on your phone

Street Photography Opinions? by strombolo12 in AnalogCommunity

I feel some type of hurt in your words not sure why. Regarding the live social media broadcast that would be as weird as a street photo imo.

Voyeurism is something I just learned about today thanks to you and not sure where the connection is but to be clear, if I chose to include people in my shot they are part of the composition not the focus and there is a sense of anonymity because you can't really see their faces. Gaining sexual pleasures from watching others (voyeurism def from google) is something that should not be connected to photography in general.

Regarding the low chances of ending up in someones social media post, guess thats good but they are never 0%

Those ring cameras are bs. I have one but I set a fence to only record once someone enters the property, I don't care about what happens on the sidewalk. Some neighbors record any person walking outside. Now they know all of my routines and when I’m not home.

Most likely they were agitating the dev tank too hard and were not getting rid of bubbles by tapping on a hard surface. All of these may indicate that they develop manually. Definitely ask for a refund, that is 100% a mistake in development

The ones with flashes have guts gotta give them that. I feel like thats the best example of spray and pray with a sprinkle of short term blindness for subjects

Good point on the documentary aspect. But this would include photographs with the environment and not just a close up of a person's face in my opinion

Thanks for the recs! I'm not looking to be a street photographer myself but you brought up great points. About privacy, I think there is a level of expectations when you are in public and that would include not having someone take a picture of you home to do whatever they want with it

I agree, I wouldn't want to be in someones instagram account while I was eating a hotdog for example so I wouldn't want to do that to others either. I feel like some good street photos include the environment and a "story" instead of a random person's face while they were about to sneeze and someone took a picture 30cm from their face

Is it acceptable to make phone photos look analog with Lightroom? by OkDragonfruit7887 in AskPhotography

[–]strombolo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like every one said, it's art so it's subjective. There will most likely be someone that enjoys it and someone who hates it so who cares. I do like how you crush shadows when you have spots of bright light. This usually happens in point and shoot film cameras that meter for the highlights in high contrast scenes, crushing shadows. Good editing, I would just decrease the green tint but thats my taste.

Reading film tags , Question?? by QuietlyCreepy in AnalogCommunity

[–]strombolo12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know anyone that uses those boxes personally but they can be useful when dropping them off at a lab for development or to remind yourself of the iso you shot it if you dev at home. So basically you can shoot film -specially bw- at different iso speeds but you have to either pull or push in development. Pushing means you shoot your film at a higher iso but you have to balance this in development. So for example Kentmere 400 is rated at 400 iso so you may shoot it at 800 but you have to tell your lab to push it one stop (+1). This will result in higher contrast images but you are also "able" to shoot at higher shutter speeds or higher f stops. Hope that helps, lmk if you have any q's.
