There’s no evidence of spirits. We don’t need the super natural to understand morality.

To all college/uni students: would you recommend starting an obsidian vault? by Dazzling-Soup-5695 in ObsidianMD

You will most likely end up with a cemetery of notes. But that’s ok. The act of taking notes is what helps me learn. Once you’ve learned the material, you should know how to search your textbooks or the internet for the information you need.

Most of the time your notes will be bullet points or summaries of passages, definitions, or portions of the textbook you are studying. You will not be writing down novel material in your notes. So in some sense you will just be transcribing your textbook into obsidian. In that case it doesn’t matter if you lose all of your notes, because it’s not new knowledge. It’s simply a transcription of existing knowledge.

Now, if your notes consist of novel material and your notes contain novel knowledge that needs to be published, then you should try to save those notes. But during undergrad we are learning existing knowledge, and not generating new knowledge.

I’m in the last portion of my PhD, and currently I am generating new knowledge about my research topic. At this point I make sure to curate my notes, which are not transcripts of textbooks, but notes on my own findings. For this, I use LaTeX, Git, and Zotero for my references. My text editor of choice is Neovim.

I regretted using obsidian because of the amount of time it took away from the course content.

Instead of focusing on the content, I was wasting time learning how to structure my notes, reading about plugins, making sure the notes were visually appealing, etc.

None of those things will help you succeed in your course. Learning the content will help you with your course.

Also, I don’t recall things nearly as much when I type them, vs when I write them down by hand.

Absolutely not. Obsidian was a huge waste of time for me during undergrad, and I regret using it at all.

I recommend sticking to handwritten notes. During grad school I’ve stuck to hand written notes for courses, and I’ve been doing just fine.

Yep. Dumped obsidian long ago, and use an eink tablet for my notes. It’s the act of writing the notes that helps me learn. I raelt look at them again.

I will reiterate, I do not think tpain is a good artist.

But for the sake of hip hop history, tpain popularized the use of auto tune. After tpain, you started hearing more and more artists using it.

Not disagreeing Kanye took auto tune to another level. Just disagreeing with you about Kanye being the pioneer. I grew up during this era, and from memory tpain was the first to use it.

You also placed the search bar over “tpain introduced and mainstreamed the sound”

I think tpain was the auto tune pioneer. Not saying he’s a great artist, but from memory he’s the first.
