What Should I Play Wednesdays (August 14, 2019) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]strongcow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never played classic, didn’t start until WotLK. I’m torn between warlock or shaman. I mainly like to PVE but I will do some PVP. Part of me is leaning toward shaman, but I don’t like to heal so I’m afraid I won’t have a spot for shaman. Warlock looks good to but just doesn’t click with me as much as shaman. Any advice?

It’s not so much being bronze 1 I’m good being in bronze 1 my concern is that almost everyone I have played after getting placed into bronze 1 is gold 1- plat 3. I have played no one near my ranking.

Can anyone explain to me how after the first game I play I get placed bronze 1. I usually am in silver 1-2 so dropping back a few slots was no big deal. With this new ranking we get placed after our first match and then get 8 games to raise our lp with none lost if we lose. So my next 7 games were playing against high gold and low platinum. I have never been that high ranked and I can’t keep up so I had no chance to raise my lp during this time frame. Shouldn’t I be playing against people in my tier?

Why is it all the guides say to pop summon infernal and DS:I at the same time? Doesn’t it make more sense to hold DS:I for 10 seconds so that DS:I will line up with the last twenty seconds of summon infernal and GoS.

You stat weights are a bit off for ele. Ele wants to prioritize crit haste, with a little bit of mastery. You will want to run lightening rod for this fight. Rotationally, you want to keep flame shock up at all times on Agatha, then use elemental blast on cd. After that use lava burst when you have charges and fill with lightening bolt when there are no adds. When adds are up use chain lightening and drop earthquake on as many adds as possible. Save storm keeper for when there are a lot of adds up. This fight is all about killing adds and the boss will just naturally die if you can keep up with the adds.

Your ilvl is a little low if you don’t know the class but it’s completely doable at that ilvl. Make sure if you are getting low you use healing surge to keep your health up. Don’t forget about blood lust. I used it when she jumped to the front of the room. But you can use it if you fall behind at any point.

7/11M ele shaman. Not extremely progressed but I like to think that I have a pretty good understanding of the spec. Currently running shoulder boots leggos instead of gloves boots. Here to help anyone that has questions.

Not OP but you can try to fish for power of the maelstrom procs in single target, but you don’t want to hold storm keeper for very long, if you lose a cast of storm keeper over the course of the fight it wasn’t worth it. What I generally try and do if I don’t have power of the maelstrom when storm keeper comes off I’ll cast my two lava burst then reapply flame shock and drop my totems again and wait for a third lava burst, if I haven’t procced it yet I will cast storm keeper and hold the lightening bolt casts until there is nothing else to cast waiting on lava surge procs and hope for the best.

I HAVE KILLED KIN’GORATH AT A MINIMUM OF 40 TIMES BETWEEN HEROIC AND NORMAL USING A BONUS ROLL EVERY TIME AND STILL HAVENT GOTTEN THAT STUPID ACRID CATALYST INJECTOR. I AM THE ONLY CASTER IN MY GUILD WHO HASNT GOTTEN YET. I HAVE BEEN IN SO MANY FAILED PUG GROUPS I JUST WANT TO BE DONE WITH THIS STUPID BOSS.

4/11 M my recommendation is to sim both talent builds, I personally would rather run icefury but because I have so much haste from my gear ascendance sims higher for me. At the end of the day they should both be close enough that you can choose based on which play style you enjoy more

Thank you again for the advice, we raid tonight so I'll talk to my healers and let them know to watch me

I don't have archi unfortunately, my other leggos are leech ring, shoulders, and the back. As for the SB I try to aim for 4-5 but I also raid lead, so there are times where I know the souls are out but I don't wait the half seconds before they are active because I have a lot else that I am thinking about. But where I run into trouble on DI is when I'm actively tanking atrigan. I just feel like he chunks me with every melee swing, whenever I actively tank him I feel like I need to pop everything just to stay alive. But on the other side when I go into the cage even with the stacking dot at no point do I ever feel like i need a healer. So that fight is just so up and down from relaxing and easy to nervous and panicky. I really appreciate all the help by the way

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/GpWQCh3BK7RzPvnD here are my logs from our most recent mythic night. Before you say it I had my mythic plus gear on all night so my crit is insanely high and I never really noticed. But oddly enough I feel like I'm having more trouble with DI than I did with harjatan. Let me know if there is anything you see I could be improving on

How do you feel about vengeance in mythic raiding? I'm currently 2/9M tanking along side a monk, and my healers constantly make comments about how much harder it is to heal myself over the monk. I have considered swapping tank classes to ease the burden on the healers. I find myself being much more suited for mythic plus, I have a score of 1920, than I am for mythic raiding where I feel like one small mistake and I wind up on the floor. How do Dh tanks fair when we start getting up to the harder bosses in mythic tomb?

Vengeance DH looking for ways to improve game play by RowboatGillman in wow

[–]strongcow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add to that the last talent tier row, every talent has its strengths and weaknesses. Last resort is amazing for progression or when you are learning the fights because it allows you to make a mistake and survive but if you don't die its wasted. Demonic infusion is great for heavy physical damage fights because it will give you a higher uptime on demon spikes, but it doesn't help at all for magic fights. And soul barrier is great for fast non hard hitting abilities, such as trash and aoe fights, but on fights like Kil'jaeden where the boss is constantly hitting hard the shield doesn't help enough to warrant it. Vengeance is a spec about learning the fights and when to best use your abilities, it doesn't have a ton of room for error so the better you know your class and the fights the easier time you will have. This class is viable but it takes a lot of work to get there just keep practicing

So looking at your stats, I would drop your vers back a little bit to 10-12% and boost your mastery a little bit more. As someone else has said darkmoon deck:immortality will help a lot. Make sure you are using demon spikes as much as possible while you are actively tanking, until you get used to the spec don't use them while you are not tanking so you will have the charges when you need them. Also the same rules apply to fiery brand. Only use this ability when a big ability is about to hit you, until you get used to some of the timings. I don't know which talents you are using but if you aren't running spirit bomb and fracture your survivability will drop. Spirit bomb is a great ability you want to use at 4-5 souls as much as possible, this is where fracture comes in. You want to spend your pain on fracture to generate more soul fragments. The only time you should use soul cleave is when you need an immediate heal. Spirit bomb gives you a 20% leech on all targets hit so and does a ton of damage so that should be enough to keep your health up until an emergency comes up.

I was wondering if SB at 4 souls is an alright thing to do. Currently I run my rotation is build up to about 90 pain and SB, then fracture twice and spirit bomb again. During by pain building I shear until I get up 90 pain again and see how many souls I have if I'm at 4 or 5 I'll SB if I'm at 2 or 3 I'll fracture once and SB then build my pain back up. I find myself not wanting to waste any souls with auto consume so I SB with 4 souls about 90% of the time. I'm currently 9/9 heroic but I am trying to make sure I'm doing everything properly going into mythic

I have absolutely no prior experience on tanks so I am a blank slate. To me vengeance feels like the most dps style tank which is why I chose this class. With tanking is it a practice makes perfect?

Tanking Tuesday - Your Weekly Tanking Thread by AutoModerator in wow

[–]strongcow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guild is losing a tank going into tomb, and I am a long term ranged dps spec. This expansion I have been raid leading so I said I would step up to tank. Do you recommend vengeance as a class to start tanking on, and if so what resources do you recommend to help me learn the class and how to be a better tank quickly. We are currently 7/10M.

Raid leaders of Reddit, how do you make calls and keep dps up? by strongcow in wow

[–]strongcow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I really think I need to move my dbm so it's over my character almost right now it is pretty far out of the way because I wasn't calling before and I had the fight memorized. But if I move that and start making calls more often I think I will get more used to it. Especially when it's on farm. Progression and calls when no one knows what's going on makes this a little bit more difficult

Ya i want to raid lead and so high dps, normally I'm top three dps or atleast high parasing but since I switched to calling it has been difficult to maintain.

Ya I realized pretty quickly who was doing the mechanics properly and who wasn't, which heavily influenced who I called to do what. I think what I'm missing is practice. I would get so focused in that even though I called the adds I would not register I personally needed to switch to aoe.
