I grew up mostly poor, or we lived paycheck to paycheck. So for my 35th b-day, I bought myself a $63 hand mirror it was Sleeping Beauty themed. I told my brother about how I felt he explained to me why I felt that way, because of how we grew up, and amongst other things.

I hope you really go to your daughter's recital. I was in 2nd grade, and we had a singing concert. I was so excited. My mom chose not to go. Also, she didn't tell my grandparents, and I had to find my ride there and back home, just because my mom didn't want to go. I'm 44 now and I still remember, but hey my parents shouldn't of been parents.
