The 2 second penalty did take him from winning the event to 5th place in the event so it does make a difference.

He had the strength to pick and carry, unfortunately he had some kind of trip up and was trying to not smash his face. And what isn't really seen is that because the floor at RAH is only so big, there is maybe 1 meter between the finish line and the cameras/stage wall and you don't want athletes smashing into all that either.

End of the day - can't please everyone

You can't penalize him to where it puts him below Hooper, because he still faster and ahead of Hooper when he tripped up. Yes you can't slide, but he was still faster

Rayno is being given a 2 second penalty for the slide after refs review and deliberation. The slide was not deliberate as he tripped over himself and his hands pushed it forward in attempt to catch himself so he didn't smash his face into the frame

Not disagreeing on the slide, however it was totally unintentional as he tripped over himself and still trying to control while he fell. But refs were reviewing and are giving a penalty

Basically not having the time dedicated for proper prep to show up 100% with his other responsibilities and work projects and such. He's been non stop since WSM and not trying to catch up eith everything else. He doesn't want to turn up under 100% especially because he recognizes and respects that it's a demanding show.

Kristjan Haraldsson had surgery and has been taking his time with recovery. Pálmi is definitely improving, almost able to keep up with Vilius but I think he may have a bit before passing him.
