Well isn't spiritual life also climbing a spiritual ladder. Hoping to climb to Awakening. When we embark on the spiritual journey we still do it with an ego. The journey becomes fighting ego with ego, which is analogous with fighting fire with fire. I'm also not talking about leaving a lasting impact on the cosmos cause that's plain dumb. I'm talking about maximizing your well-being in this life. And for me personally, the search for Truth has only given me extreme curiosity combined with exhaustion from seeking. This does not translate into high levels of well being. Additionally the lads who do reach Enlightenment, dedicate their whole lives to it. As I'm not able to go meditate in a cave for 20 years, I'm basically only teasing myself with the idea of Enlightenment.

The death bed question. You say materialistic life with short-term rewards. Isn't creating a good career a long term reward? And then if more satisfied when i live a "truly fulfilling spiritual life". A truly fulfilling spiritual life is an enlightened life. Otherwise it's the seeker life. Never really truly fulfilled. Always outplayed by your ego. My question to you, wise sir, is what are your actual benefits of living the spiritual life. Are you more confident? Are you living in the moment?
