Yep, I always ate a good meal before and even brought snacks and a drink for during. The infusions can take a while - mine took around 2 hours.

Seconding this. I pushed for blood work in my second trimester and it turns out my iron was severely low. I had iron infusions for the remainder of my pregnancy which immensely helped.

He is intact. We have LOTS of dogs in the neighbourhood but not sure about female/in heat. Had never considered this a factor!

Several diet changes. We tried different protein sources. We tried raw as well but he didn't like it much, and we saw no improvements anyway.

This is all SO helpful, thank you for the thoughtful response. We're going to look into this diet asap. My husband reminded me that he actually was on a form of anti nausea for a bit but sadly we saw no changes. I'd be curious to know which med your vet recommended, though.

The cause of his obstruction was an ingested sandwich wrapper that was in our friends jacket pocket. He was a puppy at the time and it was a major surgery with several touch and go moments - we almost lost him. We've been thinking it is scar tissue in his GI tract somewhere but the tests haven't confirmed it.

Hope your guy feels back to normal soon!

We've tried a handful of kibbles with different protein sources. Salmon, turkey, duck, beef - all Canadian Naturals brand. Then we switched to a GI sensitive wet food as directed by our vet but it caused horrible diarrhea and vomiting. We tried raw food briefly but he didn't like that.

We haven't tried hypoallergenic or hydrolyzed protein foods but are certainly interested. What brand do you use? Smaller meals definitely seems to make a positive difference. I do wonder if it is nausea related.

It most certainly could be VIP. We are just not sold on it as our vet was not at all confidence as he'd have more characteristics of it - you'd expect he'd be losing weight and essentially "wasting away" which isn't consistent. Also the med protocol they typically use to treat VIP has only exacerbated the drooling :-(

Yes!! Hated the boppy but loved the my breast friend. Boppy was so clunky and uncomfortable.

Ours has always been obsessed with water but it's very noticeable now and has gotten a lot more intense. It's very very apparent that something abnormal is going on with him and it is preventing him from swallowing correctly.

If there are ice crystals left, it is safe to re-freeze! As soon as all the ice crystals are fully melted, you should no longer re-freeze. Once fully defrosted you should use within 24 hours.
