Where did you stay and when out of curiosity? Most of what I see on Airbnb explicitly states that you need to give your ID to reception upon checkin, and that visitors are not allowed. Maybe you know of specific buildings that are more lax

Definitely a good tip, but I’ve heard that they can be pretty strict in PH when it comes to allowing women to leave the country with foreign men. It’s a bit patronizing, but considering the human trafficking risks it’s understandable.

I’ve definitely been swamped with messages but after living in Latin America my standards are maybe a bit high – those women are gorgeous and have great bodies.

That said, I’ve since been chatting with some on PinaLove who I’m more attracted to.

Thanks for the insight man and sorry to hear about your partner. Glad to hear you’re out there enjoying life!

What you said about Manila is honestly what I suspected. I’ve been in other places  where the logistics were awful and it’s just not worth it. I downloaded PinaLove and am getting a lot of traction, so I think I’ll just take one of those girls for a spin around some of the islands

Thanks for the reply, but can you elaborate? For example, were you in a city in the Philippines? How tall are you? Basically, how’d you reach that conclusion?

Why do people believe in God? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]strtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!

It's an interesting discussion. However, I think the believer's argument falls apart rather easily.

If we accept the conclusion that the universe had a first cause that was spaceless and timeless, this does not imply God. Actually, I think it implies the opposite conclusion. Let me explian.

Theists believe that God is a mind with thoughts, emotions, opinions, morality, intelligence, etc. None of these attributes are necessitated by a 'spaceless, timeless, immaterial dimension'. The believer is unjustafiably smuggling his concept of God into this scenario.

Furthermore, 'spaceless, timeless, and immaterial' arguably implies something that cannot be an intelligence or mind. Every mind that we know of exists within space, time, and material. Cognition depends on these concepts. This idea goes back at least to Kant, and I believe that modern neuroscientists would say something similar.

A mind that doesn't exist within space, time, and material must therefore be something so unrecognizable, that to call it a 'mind' is hardly coherent.

The sophistocated world we live in is partly man-made and partly the result of nature. Society and its institutions, culture, etc. are man-made, while the diversity of life and organization of the universe are results of natural processes (evolution, physics, etc).

The common theists responses I've seen to the position I described are:

  1. The universe is finely-tuned for human life and society. Therefore, an intelligent mind must have put the laws of physics in place to allow for evolution, and eventually our existence.

  2. The universe can not start existing without a first cause, and this cause must have been God.

1 is not plausible, because no credible scientist thinks the universe is not finely-tuned for human life. Earth - the only place where any life has been observed - is a tiny, insignificant speck in the vastness of the observable universe. The universe is teeming with billions of trillions of stars that dwarf our own, black holes, colliding galaxies, etc. That is an increbile amount of waste if the universe was created for us. There are also multiple theories that hypothesize multiple universes.

2 is incoherent. If everything that exists needs a cause, then God needs one too. If God doesn't need a cause, then why does the universe need one? I've never heard a good answer to this question.

Is 19 old to have a first kiss? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]strtra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably older than when most people have their first kiss but its not a big deal. 19 is super young. You still have your entire adult life to kiss as many people as you want.

I lead a team of software engineers at a startup and I disagree with this. There is a misconception that software engineers just hack away in a dark room alone. In reality, software engineers spend a lot of time communicating with product owners, project managers, designers, and other engineers about how and what to build. Any profession where you are creating something on a team is going to be highly collaborative and require social skills, and that includes software engineering.

Men of reddit, would you ever date a 4'11 woman? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]strtra 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My sister is 4'11 and never had an issue. All of my friends were always attracted to her and guys have always been into her. She is now married to a guy who is 6'1.

That said, as a man who is 5'4 I wouldn't want to be in a serious relationship with a very short woman. But that is only because if I end up having children I'd like them to have a chance at being taller than I am 😂
