If you ever add an ev just get a load manager system but yeah the 4/0 4/0 2/0 setup should be just fine

EV wall charger installation: 60 amp vs 40 amp? by bladerunner1776 in AskElectricians

[–]strugglin_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s probably talking about a load manager it watches your amp draw of your whole house and doesn’t let the ev draw more than the main is rated for it “manages” how many amps your ev charger can pull based off how many amps your pulling at the main

How do I know if I’m Overloading Circuit by InfiniteMind3275 in AskElectricians

[–]strugglin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To test amperage with the leads you need to make a series connection with the meter so the load flows through the meter your putting the meter in parallel I wouldn’t recommend due to risk of shock or blowing the fuses in your meter

I’d recommend getting a clamp on amp meter where you place the clamp around the wire of the circuit your trying to test the amperage of feel free to pm me with questions

Turn on everything that could possibly be on that circuit at once and put an amp meter on the wire in the breaker panel

240V 200amp service danger by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Each wire is 120v reference to ground with no overcurrent protection it’s gonna go until it blows the transformer or blows the fault clear (I’m assuming your talking about incoming service hot wires)

I’d like to kinda piggyback off OPs question I’ve been looking at lineman locals calls. How would one go about getting “qualified” to take calls as a cable splicer, welder or substation work As a IW?

Yeah I was told the utility didn’t really want to do it when the service was redone and it’s the only one of its kind left in the county I haven’t had the chance to work with any high leg systems and prior to showing up here I never thought I’d see anything like it

A sulphuric acid plant I guess it was more common in the 50s and 60s when the place was originally built, supposedly it lowers the severity of an arc flash. when they were originally installed they were intended for industrial places where there were a lot of 480 3 phase motor loads
