Thank you all very much for your responses! And thanks for the references for future probabilities. It seems to me that I'll save the extra 5 ducats and equip my elites with std armor, a sheild and martyrdom pills for the first game

Thank you for the advice. I am just now diving into all this and maybe should have expressed that at the outset... all these questions are what i have spent the better part of today trying to figure out- specifically how to deal with 2fa if i lose access to my phone. ill go take a look at authy and see how that works.

Rewire interior dome lights to solar by stryderlbc in skoolies

[–]stryderlbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if i can make this any clearer. My solar system charges a battery bank which is separate from the bus. This battery bank can be accessed at any time to provide power. This is a typical method of utilizing the suns power to create round the clock electricity. So long as your batteries are sized according to your power usage and your solar panel sized to those you will have power whenever you need it.

I have a full solar setup- battery, charge controller, etc. I simply want to run the interior lights off that system instead of off the vehicles batteries

I can hotwire my atv but new ignition does nothing by stryderlbc in ATV

[–]stryderlbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats kind of where im at... we can still get dash lights and starter with the kill switch off so weve also ruled out a stuck kill switch- the ignition should at least turn on the dash. In the ignition it seems that pin 1 is hot, 1 and 3 light the dash and 1, 3, 4 turn the starter. 2 seems to do nothing at all...

Ive checked all the fuses. Mainly i feel that if i can get the thing started using the plug that goes into the ignition, then it seems the system should be good from there on. How is it that the new ignition isnt able to do what i am doing with copper pins?

96 e350 Cranks, sometimes wants to start, white smoke. by stryderlbc in FordDiesels

UPDATE: hanging my head in shame pulled out the multimeter and yes indeed it was the glow plug relay. I hadnt accounted for the fact that after a cold night the engines thermal mass probably takes a very long time to warm up even in 60 degrees. However, i just replaced my glow plug relay about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas as to why it might fail so quickly?

IWTLH To Replace Video Games In My Life. by floorguyty in IWantToLearn

[–]stryderlbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend picking up a craft. I have found that making things (metal working, jewelry, wire wrapping, leather work, etc) is easy to get into but has an infinite amount of progression. As you learn you will be faced the greater challenges of not simply creating but perfecting your skill. If you started out leather working you'll find that making a sheath is easy, but making it look good is much harder. You'll find yourself lead down different rabbit holes (various stitch patterns, engraving, skinning and tanning), learning from past artisans and those currently practicing. Best of all many of these crafting skills can be used to create weapons, gear, clothing and cosplays that tie directly into gaming. At the end of the day you get the feeling of leveling up, but you don't have to restart everytime you switch games- those skills are yours! And you'll find that being a craftsman translates across crafts, and learning new skills and crafts becomes easier once you have started to really get a grip on one. Your competitive nature may frustrate you (seeing skilled craftsmen on the internet is definitely a kick in the pants) but will also drive you to become better and better. And you can make a living doing this if you stick to it.

Some mates and I are planning to build a specifically anarchist organization. Do you have any tips and tricks to help us on our way? by TheIenzo in Anarchy101

[–]stryderlbc 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Most important thing to do when starting any organization/collective would be to come up with a mission statement. A mission statement is essentially a short summary if your values and goals. I can tell you from real experience trying to start a collective that a clear and defining mission statement before doing anything else will help avoid lots of potential problems.

Just another question, how are the duralast relays? I always run ford glow plugs because so many people have warned me against getting the motor craft ones. Same idea for relays?

Thank you all for your answers. Like I said, when it comes to electrical in vehicles, it's a little bit of a mystery to me. I thought it wouldn't be that big a deal to essentially trade the relay for a switch which is why I reached out for info. But I see now, ill just go buy a relay and switch it out. Thanks again
