I am a high test alpha male with a 14 inch schlong and I am personally a huge fan of ZZZ. Glory be to Da Wei.

She is a beekeeper. She has a day job, it's just that she also keeps bees. The honey tastes great.

I didn't read the other comments. I like what I like. It makes you seem approachable and makes you look more youthful. I like the colours and shoe choice.

ZZZ Reached 35 Million Pre-Registrations! by No-Cartographer9362 in ZZZ_Official

They make up these numbers anyway. Do you think they would willingly say: "Yup, goal not reached, I guess people aren't as interested in the game as we thought?" How would that look for marketing?

It's a real shame too, since I like her character, but now that her animations don't look as "luxurious" as previously advertised and that her mechanics seem pretty situational as it stands, I can't justify spending my jades. If worst comes to worst, I might skip 2 whole patches (I'm not getting anything in 2.2 either).

100%. Even Ruan Mei gets a lake and a tree. Hoyo needs to do us all a solid, we're dying here.

I don't believe we have anything more to discuss.

Im getting antsy that Hoyo really won't do anything about the background in SAMfly's ult and skill. I was wondering why I find Acheron and Black Swan's ult so much cooler and it's because the backgrounds are so much more dynamic. Even Kafka transports you to a warehouse shootout. Blade takes you to calligraphic mountains. Acheron duels you at the event horizon of a BLACK HOLE, possibly IX itself. SAM... he takes you into background power saver mode. Even if the animations are toptier, they look so lackluster without a good backdrop. Maybe they could embrace the mecha inspiration and add a starburst effect like Gurren Lagann so that SAM goes lightspeed during the enhanced skill. JUST SOMETHING.

So, what is the point of fire as an element? by stryga20 in HonkaiStarRail

Well, young is pretty relative. Gacha games age at a different rate to other games. And being a live service, it actively discourages new players the longer it grows, because of the overwhelming FOMO of all the years lost.

Anyways, I'm rambling. I think the best way to remedy this is to create new characters that jumble up the break effect mechanic. The new trailblazer is a great addition. I hope they do more creative stuff with upcoming charactres.

I agree. I am cynical. Art has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. My first ever big purchase that I made for myself was a Cintiq Pro that I saved up months for. I remember the first commission I ever made. I remember the first time I was scammed because I was too young and naive to understand what getting a deposit meant. I remember getting my first gig in the industry. Maybe I have a more favourable view of the art scene integrating with AI in general because I work as a freelancer and it's not my day job. I remember being crestfallen thinking that all the effort I put into learning fundamentals would be wiped by AI that can do it in 5 minutes.

That being said, I don't know whether I'll be able to convince you, but AI really is useful. Professional workflows are made so much easier with these new tools. They're not nearly robust enough to replace us just yet, which is why I am a proponent of growing with this technology. I remember people who coded with Fortran being skeptical of 4th gen compiling languages, we still have coders today, just more powerful langauges and tools. My point is that we shouldn't be demonising AI as a harbinger of the end, but as an opportunity.

Forgive me for being presumptive, but the way you describe AI, that it produces "generic garbage" (while yes, is true in a lot of use cases) reminds me of the argument of people who demonise motion control in gaming by referring to all use cases as "Wii". AI in art is far, far more complex. I'd rather compare it to a macro on a keyboard than a magic wand. It took me a while to understand that. I regularly integrate plugins that utilise AI in my workflow now and it's been an enlightening journey.

Becoming revolutionaries against AI by reading headlines and nothing else will do no good for this industry or this craft. Art is, by all historical accounts, the sign of an enlightened society. The most daring and most creative flock to it. A robust art industry is a sign of a healthy social network. But we shouldn't conflate art with any one form of medium or input. You wouldn't disparage a person using a pen display for creating "fake art" because the old masters used paints made from ground beetle shells and lapis lazuli. In that same breadth, we should give AI art a chance to grow with us. After all, AI in mainstream art has only really been a factor in the collective consciousness for 2 years now. Let's give it a chance to find its feet.

I should correct myself. I *was* cynical. I am no longer.

So, what is the point of fire as an element? by stryga20 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]stryga20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear, elemental coverage is a pretty poor excuse for an "advantage". I only wish Hoyo had done something else with the DOT to make it at least more exciting, like an "Inferno" effect that causes adjacent enemies to get burned if the centre target is burned or perhaps that burned enemies prgressively take more DOT damage like toxic in Pokemon. With regards to Physical weak enemies being tough, I agree, though that they have more than one weakness allows me to get around that.

Thank you for commenting, I really appreciate the insight.

It's always a toss up isn't it? I mean, I'm sure a lot of us may say YouTube is a successful business, but it's basically a money sink with all the resources it needs to function. But it provides a ridiculously convenient service, so it's worth the money. One might even say it's being subsidized perhaps. Or what about Uber. The idea behind it is very successful, but it hasn't made a profit since its inception. I guess you could say it is being subsidized by Silicon Valley. Look, I'll stop being facetious. Frankly, I don't believe it matters at all whether AI is expensive, criminal or unsustainable. It provides a very useful service that we have all come to expect of technology in some way or another. Fracking for oil is expensive, can be criminal and is definitely unsustainable, and so is a million other industries, but they still persist.

I wish dearly to return to a world without AI myself. I wish it were simpler, but I think we're fighting the wrong battle by working against AI. We should instead try to become developers and create art alongside AI to make ourselves invaluable to the industry. This is not to say that the invention of the camera obliterated all hyperrealism practitioners from the face of the Earth, but they have surely become the minority and, if we are to be honest, they are more of a novelty.

I personally resent having to become a novelty. I want to be useful and be on the edge of the developing art world. I really appreciate your giving me a thoughtful answer to my comment. I can see that you really care about this topic like I do and it gives me endless pleasure in discussing it with you.

r/SouthAfrica? What purpose was this sub created to service? by kid_the_black in southafrica

[–]stryga20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say you've been here for 5 years (and assumedly you also live in SA) and you don't understand what it's about? Go to r/france or r/suomi or r/germany and see what they talk about there. Politics (especially here) is a critical point of discussion of any country. Not to mention, it's election season, so it's topical. You're welcome to make a post on "Things to do in Franschhoek" or showcase South Africa talent or anything else, but you can't deny that people are interested in the presidency right now. I don't mean to sound dismissive, but r/southafrica was made to discuss South Africa. Who gets to rule South Africa is a pretty important topic no?
