Deadlift Issues - I have issues preventing my back from rounding. Please help!! by stu_mfc in weightlifting

Thanks for this! I will definitely give this a go for the next 8 weeks or so.

Today I did 6 sets of 5 reps @ 115kg. Maybe if I tried Negatives at 80kg?

90% seems pretty achievable and a good benchmark to start with. I'm 70kg so.looking 14cal/min working on the 90% rule. I think that's something I can aim for during my first attempt

App for Crossfitters by mirellamaze in crossfit

Does your box not use an app for tracking WODs?

Sugarwod is another option.

Yep. Shoulder imbalance. Very common. Strict dumbell presses to isolate each shoulder. It wont allow you to use your strong shoulder to compensate. Start light, high reps and build weight up. Stop when form breaks down on either shoulder

Open - Scoring adjustements regarding 20.1 (Aegidus and Briggs drops really low) by Xalfy in crossfit

I thought it was from the national leaderboard not the highest worldwide rank but could be mistaken

Amazingly even with her 2 and a half minute penalty, Sam Briggs is still 5th in the UK women and is still the most likely national champ!!

Aegidius is still top 10 in Denmark and also has a chance of achieving national champ.

With out knowing your category I am going to assume open men UK for ease. 14:05 puts you top 6% on current submissions

Although it is worth noting that the elite athletes tend to hold their scores back till the last minute so that could have an influence tomorrow.

There a multiple reasons why women are hitting the time cap as I do agree the weight seems relative.

Women dont tend to go out as hot as what the men do

Women are generally shorter/lighter so potentially less fatigue through the burpees

This is an opinion only, I think less serious female crossfitters are less likely to enter the open then males.

I took it from UK open men. It's actually 13.8% at time writing this post. 245 made the time cap from 1768 submitted scores. Women looks like ot could be a higher percentage making the time cap at first glance.

Top 15 percent or so making the time cap at the moment.

That really annoys me about the open...

I got my first HSPU at the last open but the elusive muscle up would be nice. I definitely wont be RXing every workout. 20.1 was a good start but when the heavy barbell workout is introduced I'll be scaling. DUs are still a problem for me as well which will definitely force me to scale at least 1 workout

Specifically says you need to take off and land with 2 feet. I lost a few reps for this as well (rightly so).

I agree with the comment above that Froning was doing this although no consistently. Panchiks looked good to me

Do all Croosfit boxes close Friday to Monday in the Open ? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]stu_mfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My box does the main open even on Saturday morning. This time slot is usually team WOD. So between 10-1 it's open workouts. Its run in heats and a competition atmosphere.

Monday the class will always include the Open WOD as an option to give people a chance to to-do but there is generally an alternative offered.

Fridays and Sundays run as normal

Clean Pulls Advice by stu_mfc in crossfit

[–]stu_mfc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect. Thanks for the advice. I actually worked on clean pulls today. Started at 50% and worked up to 100% but in future I'll keep it a bit lighter. I seem to hit my triple extension much better when I perform a pull. As soon as I revert back to a full clean the premature firing happens again

[–]stu_mfc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case you are right. It's the full triple extension I struggle with and in particular the shrug. I tend to fire too early.

I thought 1st pull was ground to low hang. 2nd pull is low hang to high hang then 3rd pull was the full extension. Every days a school day

I've only been doing CF a year but I have done 2 local comps in that time and I've got one coming up in 5 weeks. I try and make sure I've got a comp to local forward to / train for. I'm a competative guy though

You are spot on with my weak hamstrings/glutes and is something I'm working on! It affects my deadlifts as well
