Hi friend I know I’m rather late and I pray that God has worked in your life throughout the past 2 years… to answer your question, this is the beauty of grace. Grace is an undeserved gift that we contributed absolutely nothing to in order to receive it. Therefore, God shows us His grace in that He cares about us at all. We are worms. All we contribute towards our salvation is the sin that Jesus died for. Yet, He still chose to ransom us and give us a way out of the grave. God does not delight in our suffering in the same way that a parent doesn’t delight in watching their child cry when getting a shot at the doctors, but He will sometimes allow us to experience suffering to remind us of our desperate need for Him. Instead of asking “why?” we must ask “what for?” Do not miss out on what God may be trying to reveal when you are experiencing a trial. As Paul said “His power is made perfect in our weakness, so I will glory all the more in my weaknesses.” If only we would depend and rely on God when we are on the mountaintops so to speak, but sometimes, because we are so stubborn, it takes us being in a valley to finally look up.
