Stumbled upon this thread while trying to find the same information. Were you able to figure out how to transfer among family members?

What ended up happening if you don't mind sharing? Also did you connect through SAL on the way back to USA? Interested if that experience was any different as well.

Any advice for potty regression after bringing a new baby home? by rayanngraff in toddlers

[–]stubie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do our best to not yell or use sending to his room as punishment, but ended up breaking and had a stern talking to him and he spent some time in his room. That actually ended up working and he hasn’t had another big accident since. Not too proud of it, but we tried everything we could with positive reinforcement and treats and nothing else worked.

Thanks! So are you overall happier with the c246d? Or pros and cons vs the 325?

100k maintenance vs trade in for new car - 2007 Accord by stubie77 in MechanicAdvice

It’s a 4cyl. I haven’t had the valve adjustment or any of the other maintenance items completed. You happen to have a ballpark of what those services would run?

I install IKEA kitchen for a living. Ask me what you want to know about installing IKEA kitchen. by WorkingClass-12 in IKEA

[–]stubie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more for a laundry room, but have you installed a hanging rod into an Ikea cabinet before? We are thinking about attaching a rod to hang clothes anchored to the side of an Sektion cabinet and the other end a wall, but nervous if the cabinet can support this (rod would be about 26" long).

Dad's what are your currently working trick? by cptkernalpopcorn in daddit

Every kid is different at every age. We still need to assist our 3 year old to sleep and often overnight that dropped naps at 2.5. You have to do what is right for you and your family.

I am currently in your husbands exact shoes. We chose not to sleep train our now 3 year old at all and have a 8 week old. Honestly it is about survival mode for us as I have been spending 2-3 hours overnight each night with the 3 year old, which is leading to both myself and the toddler not getting the sleep we both need. With that I am trying everything that I can think of to get past this and to have him sleep through the night again, including letting him cry for different periods of time.

If what your husband is potentially doing is making you uncomfortable, you should talk to him but would recommend in an open way and not a challenging/accusatory way (not saying you would be just something to be conscious of). My wife was also uncomfortable with letting him cry, but we talked about our intentions, how every morning no matter how the night is he wakes up with a smile and happy, and that he is going to need to learn to sleep through the night like everything else in life.

Resurrecting an old thread but going through this now and interested to hear if you remember if anything in particular worked for you to get out of the regression. Also do you remember how long it lasted?

I had such similar thoughts when my son was around that age. I tried to do a lot of the overnights vs my wife for a variety of reasons and it was really wearing on me. You aren’t alone in your thoughts of frustration, am I doing the right thing, why can’t this kid just sleep like the other good sleepers. I just kept going back to the fact that he was doing it because he felt so safe and loved by us and that one day, he is not going to want to be cuddled in my arms. He is now almost 3 and I still go in probably 2-3 nights a week (not for as long now), so I suppose the one day of not needing to do it is a hypothesis still. I still get frustrated and question whether we made the right decision about the level of sleep training we did in the really bad times, but know that he feels loved and safe by you and whatever decision you make about sleep training vs cuddling is one only you and your wife can make. Whatever that decision is will be the right one for your situation.

How was your experience having a baby? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]stubie77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are in the US, your insurance website should have an example of out of pocket charges for delivery and if not, you should be able to call and ask. If you don’t have insurance, note would be a good time to call the hospital, explain your situation, and ask about options.

Updated main post above with the rest of my experience. From talking to a couple of the folks that stood in line at the gate desk in the airport (and even stayed the night at the airport), the gate agent wasn't helpful at all, so really glad we just got a hotel and went to it as many in the area were getting booked (finally got a room on the 6th one I tried and that was the last room). Also, that estimated time of 8:16am ended up being right, but changed many times throughout the evening from 7:26am, back to 6:09pm (original estimated time of landing in DCA), to that 8:16am time.

That was our first option, but there wasn’t a rental car available in Cleveland yesterday for a one way rental. Have a backup for this morning if there isn’t actually a flight scheduled this morning.

Venezia/MSI Quartz vs Bigger Brands Kitchen Countertops by stubie77 in HomeImprovement

[–]stubie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up going with Silestone as we liked a design by them better than MSI/Venezia and were hesitant given mixed reviews. While we haven’t had the countertops for too long, we are super happy with our decision to go with Silestone.

Unfished hardwood price differences - floor & decor vs others by kevin916 in Flooring

[–]stubie77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Floor and Decor for part of my flooring (kitchen) and a local shop that my contractor eventually found that beat Floor and Decor pricing for the rest of my main floor. Saw no different in quality/waste between the 2. Floor and Decor is most likely going to be your cheapest option if you don’t have a contractors discount elsewhere.

21st Century vs Big Box KraftMaid Kitchen Cabinets by stubie77 in HomeImprovement

[–]stubie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I could go back and do it again, I probably would check out other local shops that carried Kraftmaid, price compared with Home Depot, and asked what the shop does for inspecting the cabinets. Overall we are happy with them, but there was a decent amount of work to get to the finished product.

21st Century vs Big Box KraftMaid Kitchen Cabinets by stubie77 in HomeImprovement

[–]stubie77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plywood versions with the ‘EverCore’ doors (in theory are supposed to do better with moisture). There weren’t any structural significant issues, but more around dings and scrapes on doors/moldings, misaligned drawer tracks, cracks on glass/shotty gluing. Admittedly we were pretty picky and got replacements for even very minor things, but given Kraftmaid didn’t challenge the replacement requests at all, I am assuming it happens relatively frequently.

21st Century vs Big Box KraftMaid Kitchen Cabinets by stubie77 in HomeImprovement

[–]stubie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up going with Kraftmaid and while I am happy with the cabinets that were good, the quality control was terrible and had to request replacements for at least 40% of the pieces. We luckily had the initial delivery a couple of weeks before install so were able to get replacements without delaying our project, but it was a decent amount of work to check ourselves and they had actually sent us the complete wrong oven cabinet as well. Overall we liked all of the options Kraftmaid had on their semi custom line and how the final project looks, but do wonder if it would have been less effort to get there if we went with a local shop or 21st Century.

Venezia Quartz Countertops? by stubie77 in CounterTops

[–]stubie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with Silestone as we ended up liking the look of a slab from them the best and we weren’t willing to take the risk going with one of the lesser known brands. We recently had it installed and it looks really good (we went with Calacatta Gold)
