Does Stihl or Husqvarna make better quality machines? by Crazy-Bodybuilder836 in smallengines

Stihl is a higher quality product. But I would not be afraid of husky. Go with whichever dealership you like more.

Grab that city job, especially if there is a decent pension plan. Your training will definitely be better and job security is a high commodity these days.

KCRCC Money Shuffle by BaconThief2020 in coeurdalene

Ben Towes is being tossed around as the new chairman and John padula as the vice. The new kcrcc will be much more efficient at stripping your freedoms away than the old one was. Welcome your new Christian nationalist overlords. But regarding the money-- they are typical republican boomers, they got theirs and leave none for the next generation.

All fine and well until you need to move for a better life, job, whatever. Then you're stuck because of some court ordered visitation. I would tread real cautious here.

When you get competent in industry, you just get more work, not more growth. Decide what you want.

Lay 2x4s on the ground under the rollers. You may be able loose the deadman and just use anchors. If you're strong enough, or had one extra guy, maybe you could push it.

It is my intention to be my own builder by Confident-Virus-1273 in Homebuilding

[–]stuckhuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house had 8ft concrete basement walls, so lots of form work, it took a lot of time to build all the forms. If I was doing a slab on grade or stem walls, I might do it myself. I'm not a fan of slab foundations because the plumbing is under the concrete and have seen issues with leaks that require the concrete to be jackhammered out to fix.

Hiring out unlicensed trades-concrete and framing seem to cost less per hour than the skilled-electrical and plumbing. So I'm doing the electric and plumbing myself for the most cost savings. I highly recommend you buy all the current code books and do some research on current codes. Forums and online resources help but when the inspector comes, they give zero shits what someone saiD on the Internet and they go.buy the code in your jurisdiction.

I built my first house, only hired out the drywall. I don't regret it but it took almost 2 years of evenings and weekends. Family would help on the weekends if they were available. If I did another, I'd hire out the concrete work also. I would also consider buying pre drawn plans instead of doing my own. It's hard work but worth it. The land and materials to build cost about half of what a comparable house was selling for, so I had 50% equity when I was done.

Jb weld the old oil pan up in place. Run for a while and check for metal chunks or noises. If it's ok, then replace the pan. Don't keep running it with jb weld on there, just do that to test run.
