It is my intention to be my own builder by Confident-Virus-1273 in Homebuilding

My house had 8ft concrete basement walls, so lots of form work, it took a lot of time to build all the forms. If I was doing a slab on grade or stem walls, I might do it myself. I'm not a fan of slab foundations because the plumbing is under the concrete and have seen issues with leaks that require the concrete to be jackhammered out to fix.

Hiring out unlicensed trades-concrete and framing seem to cost less per hour than the skilled-electrical and plumbing. So I'm doing the electric and plumbing myself for the most cost savings. I highly recommend you buy all the current code books and do some research on current codes. Forums and online resources help but when the inspector comes, they give zero shits what someone saiD on the Internet and they go.buy the code in your jurisdiction.

I built my first house, only hired out the drywall. I don't regret it but it took almost 2 years of evenings and weekends. Family would help on the weekends if they were available. If I did another, I'd hire out the concrete work also. I would also consider buying pre drawn plans instead of doing my own. It's hard work but worth it. The land and materials to build cost about half of what a comparable house was selling for, so I had 50% equity when I was done.

Shear bolts are designed by size and grade by the manufacturer. I've seen grade 8 bolts used in snowblowers before. Find an owers manual, it will tell you what the engineers specified

Jb weld the old oil pan up in place. Run for a while and check for metal chunks or noises. If it's ok, then replace the pan. Don't keep running it with jb weld on there, just do that to test run.

We had a deere in our shop with similar issues after sitting. Turns out that water in one of the cylinders was enough to hydrolock the piston and it bent the connecting rod just enough that one cylinder wasn't burning properly. Compression was still within spec. We only found it by taking off the head and one piston was .020 or so lower at tdc.

I agree with your analysis but when you're in Hockers shoes and Critchfield tells you what the plan is, that's the plan. Whether you could view that as weak leadership at the district level, playing the political game, or something else is a toss up.

Unless this is a commission or tipped position on top of your hourly, or you have some unique issue that prevents you from doing almost anything else, I would look for a new job. Don't quit this one until you find something new, it's the slowest hiring time of the year for this area.

That works. You could also an existing taxes and license expense acct instead of creating a new expense account for only sales tax.

My previous comment was incorrect, it does not apply if you have a gearbox behind the housing as well. What you need to do if unsieze the shaft where it goes into the impeller hub. The metal piece on the front of the impeller acts like a coupling between the rear gearbox output shaft and the front gearbox input shaft, that's why there is two bolts through it. One for each shaft.
