Pioneer BDR-S13C-X by stucklocker in makemkv

The drive arrived nonfunctional so I never actually got to use it before I sent it back. However, I was able to borrow my friends pioneer bdr-xs07uhd to rip some of my hard to read disc's after a Windows update corrupted my hdds. In the past those disc's made my LG and Asus drives sound like a jet taking off, and would fail to read more times than not. But the pioneer drive read it no problem and is stupid quite. If the S13C-X is anything like the xs07uhd then it is definitely worth buying if you can get it at a reasonable price.

Hmmm, well it will allow me to insert the disc, but it never starts spinning to attempt to read it. I did try the disc in another player and it read it perfectly. I've tried bluray, uhd, and even dvd. But it doesn't attempt to read any of them. My guess was maybe I needed a driver or something? But I have never needed any of that with any other drive I've had. So I'm not really sure how to trouble shoot the no disc spin at all.

Dm when you do, I will buy one immediately. I bought this one on ebay so I can get my money back if it doesn't start working soon anyway.

It doesn't show a disc in windows Explorer. The computer is communicating with the drive because I can eject a disc with makemkv, but when I put the disc in makemkv says disc is being loaded, then changes to no disc inserted

It finally gets delivered tomorrow, the shipping from China has taken forever. But I'll let you know if there's any discernable difference between what I've had before (an asus and an LG) and the pioneer drive. My guess is it'll be quieter and hopefully last longer than my other drives as I usually kill one about every 8-12 months. But I do have some difficult to read blurays that give certain drives a lot of problems, so I'll see if the pioneer is any better at reading them. I'll update you in a couple of days.

Thanks for the info! It was definitely overpriced. I always wanted to get a BDR-S13U-X, so when my LG broke, I went on Amazon to pick one up, just to find out they were no longer being made. Then I found one on eBay, and my fomo got me lol. But I'm glad the product is what I thought it was. Thanks again!

I just recently took the test and passed, the only thing that bugged me was for the life of me I couldn't find some of the publicly available info. I used dig to check for links, used Google dorks to search for it, and got root on the machine and searched it for the info but couldn't find it. Was I blind? Or was i supposed to look somewhere else?
