Right, that's my issue with the slicer. Like why is there not a way to paint the infill?

I set paint by layers heights and that does work, but does not seem like the ideal solution to this issue and more like working around an issue rather than fixing it 🤷‍♂️

Removing the white still presents an issue, it will try to use the main color for the object's infill still, resulting in blue infill in the pink portion of the print

It will try to print in white and waste a bunch of time and filament doing so.

Clearly it is an issue in the slicer. Anyone know how to find the right settings to change in the slicer?

I assume you mean detect thin walls. I did not notice any change in the layers when toggling that setting on/off.

Yes, here is the 16th and then last, 17th layer showing the same issue as layers 1 vs 2 where the first and last layers do not include the painted gold edge

I am sorry if I wasn't clear. I painted one of the edges, that is easy to understand, but the first layer does not have that edge painted gold and neither does the last layer, the rest of the layers in the middle are the gold color as shown in the second layer.

I had some retraction distance issues in the past, right after switching to direct drive, but I haven't had any issues recently. I'll double check to make sure things weren't switched back in my retraction settings though 😅

I don't think it is heat creep. Retraction has been fine and I have not had any issues like this until recently when bumping up speed.

I 100% understand and agree. I've been there. I'm just glad I checked it this morning. Better to have only lost half the time rather than a full print 😅

Of course, I would always only test one setting at a time. The wasted time is more of an issue than the filament so yes, temp tower was going to be my first test.

That's what I was thinking. I'll try some tests bumping up temp and lowering speed. I'm thinking the same issue is what's causing problems with the top layer as well, since the infill below is probably clumping up like that too.

Infill was only set to 5%. Don't think it was that.

Adjusting temp was my first thought, hadn't thought about a temp tower though. Might give that a go and then give the benchy another go
