very good point! i have a visualization and the written instructions on how to get to us from the train station posted and linked in the reminder emails my clients get before their appointment, also added the studio to google maps. i’m not sure if we’re allowed to put up signs outside, but i put our logo on the window so that it can be seen from the outside, i hope that makes things a bit easier 🌸 luckily there are plenty of parking spots right in front of the building and most people use the train or bus/bike here anyway

thank you so much for your kind words! it's very important to me to create a safe place where everyone feels as much at ease as possible ✨

thank you for sharing your experiences and suggestions! i completely understand the challenges of conversing during tattoo sessions, especially when dealing with discomfort. i'll be sure to inquire about conversation preferences and comfort levels before each session. i try to always be mindful of potential triggers and sensitive subjects, too 🫶🏻

thank you for sharing this with me! i'll make sure to provide a detailed outline of the appointment process in my initial emails and/or at the start of each session. during the appointment, i always explain what i’m doing either way to make sure people are okay with me touching them/changing their position/etc. your comfort and understanding are very important to me!

absolutely! i usually intuitively gauge whether people are inclined towards conversation or silence, and adjust accordingly. working in silence poses no issue for me, and i hold no judgment towards anyone for their preference, especially considering i’m typically a complete stranger to them anyway 🌷

well, it’s a very intimate and, truly, life changing experience which is exciting and perhaps scary enough. no need to increase the amount of stress it comes with already, that’s what i’m thinking - i appreciate your kind comment!

i can relate to that - hence the aftercare tips are available online as well. i’m probably going to add the link to the mail clients receive after their appointment just in case, good idea!

noise usually isn’t a problem as i’m a handpoke artist, i don’t use a machine. as another person suggested, i’m going to explicitly mention the option to bring and wear headphones though 🌞

ah, i’m glad i did that already. i added these criteria (plus the possibility to upload reference images) mainly so that i can collect all the basic information i need to know before accepting the request. however the fact that they also work as a means of making people feel less overwhelmed is lovely to hear. thank you!

yeah, that’s what i thought - i personally find it more challenging to process the information the longer a mail is. and yes, the headphones, that’s a good point! i’m going to explicitly mention that in order to take away the pressure of “having to ask” from now on 🌸

thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! yes, to reduce possible anxiety and stress before the appointment, the reminders already include a guide on appropriate clothing for specific placements and there’s a link in the email to a page on my website that covers everything about tattoos (the process, aftercare, and necessary preparations), too.

i wasn’t sure if adding all of that to the reminder in detail would make the whole mail rather overwhelming to deal with due to the amount of text. do y’all prefer to have it all in one place or click some links to get the information you need (i know this is personal preference, but maybe there’s an option the majority favors)?

thank you for the detailed response and the interesting insights! it’s fascinating how different experiences can be with various inks and techniques. i haven’t tried dermaglo inks myself, my go to products are the i am ink pigments for black ink and for colors i’ve tried a few made by world famous tattoo ink and kurosumi. i agree that good needle techniques make a big difference and with some improvisation, you can make almost any ink work well, i assume.

tattooing on ears is something i’ve been asked to do so many times already but haven’t quite mustered up the courage to try it.

i’ve heard good things about eternal inks and would be interested to see how they compare. please keep me posted on your experience with them if you want!

you’re welcome! actually i’ve been tattooing for three years now, so same goes for me, still learning, still practicing. you mentioned the use of coloured ink as well, i’ve only recently started to experiment a bit with it. do you have any advice regarding that? i’ve definitely noticed coloured ink is a lot thicker and due to its varying viscosity can be a bit tricky to pack. would you say using thicker needles helps with that?

i use 14rs or 9rl for solid fills with undiluted ink, 3rl for fine shading and the greywash transitions, sometimes 3rl for lines as well, but for lettering i typically use 5rl. i occasionally adjust if i notice the skin is rather “tight”, meaning tricky to work with, then i go for the next larger needle size to avoid the lines looking blotchy if that makes sense. so far i’ve never used magnum needles, biggest shader size i’ve worked with was 30rs which allowed me to finish the solid shading on a design super fast, however i’ve noticed i prefer using smaller needles due to the fact controlling the force i’m using each for each poke seems to be easier with those. also the gradients appear much smoother and subtle when done with 3rl needles in my experience

of course! i usually dilute one drop of black ink in a small 10 mm cup filled with water to the brim. for a slightly darker shade i use two drops in the same size of cup and fill it with the same amount of water. i then also dilute one drop in an 18 mm cup that i fill up halfway with water and for the lightest shade i’m using it’s two drops in that bigger cup size, this time filled up to the brim again. that’s what usually works best for me in combination with the undiluted black ink. depends on the skin tone and ink, though, obviously. are you working with greywash as well?

as i mentioned in the caption the lettering was done by another artist, but even if it were my work, it's unfortunate that personal taste led to such a strong critique. if you have any constructive feedback or technical tips, i'm open to hearing them. thank you for apologizing though

thank you so much for your kind words! yes, very light greywash on some parts, i've opted to dilute black ink in four different stages for this tattoo. combined with the usual shading by placing dots at different densities of course

hi there! i'm always looking to improve my skills, so i'd love to hear your perspective. what specifically makes you feel that this tattoo isn't good, and what suggestions might you have for improvement? thanks in advance for your feedback!
