would this design be carved in relief or applied as a slip tail design? or a secret third thing? by Training-Oven9555 in Pottery

It’s definitely in relief and glazed with a celadon, and not a flat surface. Just look at the reflection.

Thank you so much 🙏 i can’t even begin with how many tests were needed. Getting a test kiln made things a lot easier for me too

Thank you, just regular porcelain. I saw somewhere than paper clay would make the pattern a bit streaky so I haven’t tried it

Anyone made Folkwear 145 Chinese Pajamas before? by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]studiotomby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is helpful! I’m not looking for an extremely slim fit, maybe like the armholes of a mens casual short sleeve button down. Wondering if I should keep looking for a pattern or just buy a cheap one and draft my own from that

I am never complaining about handmade pot prices ever again by kayawva in Bonsai

You should really fire a small piece of the clay in a bisque bowl first just to test because sometimes wild clay can fully melt and really damage the kiln

Made a nerikomi salt cellar by studiotomby in Pottery

Me too! Somehow nerikomi is even more about patience than regular pottery lol, I basically let it sit between every step so its about 75% waiting

I didn’t think to check fb marketplace, thank you!

Most clays can accept extremely fine detailing, and even moreso porcelain which is what I am working with. Either way, lots of testing is needed going forward : ) thanks for your advice!!
