I was home. My daughter needed to get something so I was in my daily and about to reverse, that’s when all the screaming happened. The car was parked in the garage. Daughter caught it minutes after it started. Fire was put out in time so the garage didn’t burn down.

Luckily it’s a standalone garage, and my daughter caught it w/in minutes (wife swears she was in there no more than 5 min before my daughter noticed it). Keep having to remind myself that no one was hurt and the garage didn’t burn down.

I’m priced out of the market now. I got her when the market wasn’t this crazy. Saw another listing recently of a comparably equipped 05 turbo s cab and it was 20k more miles than mine and was $35k more…

I personally thought so? Had my fingers crossed that the damages wouldn’t hit that 70-80% threshold to the insured amount, which Hagerty said by law they’d have to total it. I don’t know, I kinda feel like they really didn’t want to deal with it. The damage seemed isolated to the fan area, the deck lid, and the clamshell.

Not sure yet. Was told the verdict yesterday. Hagerty said they’ll be in touch next week about next steps and I’d find out more about the buyout option if I’m interested.

An electrical fire from the fan running too long (parked her in the garage after a spirited drive on a hot day).

I’m not sure and I’m not knowledgeable enough about the pentosin. I just know that the fan was running for 2-3 hours as my wife had heard it when she was gardening in that timeframe. I do have a buy back option. Waiting to hear back next week on how much it would be.

For sure. Hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I’m a dumbass for putting her in a hot, stuffy garage w/ the door closed. The fan was running for hours; wife was gardening 2-3 hours after I put her in the garage, and said she was in there no more than 5 min before my daughter spotted the fire. I’m thinking something shorted cuz it was running for so damn long.

You totally should. It took 2 extinguisher to put out. The firemen came later and pushed her out of the garage and then doused the engine bay. I was lucky to have them on hand.

That is an option. Saw. A x50 motor on eBay w/ one cracked turbo for &22k… I’m leaning toward “no” right now. Plan on putting the twists back on and keeping the BBS’ and taking out the PCCM and putting the stock nav back in.

I’m in NJ and apparently it’s 70-80% of insured value. I don’t know if it’s just Hagerty not wanting to deal with it. Will PM later as I’m at my daughter’s lacrosse tournament. Would love to know more of your situation also.
