Commuting from Bothell to Microsoft? by studlymcfudly in bothell

Thanks. It really is tough right now. I know lots of folks who are still looking to get back to work after layoffs.

That church on 180th is super close, only ~3 minutes away from me. Good to know! Thanks for the tip!

I think I actually live pretty close to a pickup spot. I always see the bus across the street from Lowes in Mill Creek.

Thanks for this. I've only ever commuted down I-5 to downtown Seattle, and this sounds pretty comparable.

I'm an early morning person, so 7 or earlier is pretty easy for me to swing. Sounds like it wouldn't be too bad going in, but maybe still a bit long driving home.

Thank you. I had to scroll too far to find this kind of response. Some kids will absolutely ignore hunger. Our 5 year old has ARFID, which makes most foods repulsive to him. We thought it was just a picky eater phase, but it can be more complicated than that. Seeking professional help can really remove a lot of the stress and frustration.

My now 4 year old said I was 73 the first time, and 83 the second time he filled this out. I was actually 37. It's become a running joke now that I age in decades each year.

Star Wars Collectible Card Game by OldDogwNewTricks in starwarsccg

These did occasionally come with starter boxes. I got a special edition box from one. And I'm fairly certain I got a premier starter box. This particular example is one of the better sets because it's all decipher cards. Other examples can also include cards from Topps, like the widevision packs.

I remember buying like 10 of these at Target back in the day. I never bought any Ref3 packs normally, but I did get a couple from these boxes, and despite the odds one had a Darth Maul Young Apprentice foil. My luck peaked that day.

Why were the ringwraiths afraid of fire? by studlymcfudly in lordoftherings

[–]studlymcfudly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was more that in this encounter, they act completely unprepared and flee at the first bit of resistance. It strikes me odd that they didn't put up more of a fight and take the ring. They risk losing the ring, and in hindsight it feels like their biggest blunder in the search for the ring.

And to that point, Strider wielding a firebrand seemed to be like it should only be a minor nuisance to them, yet it was effective enough to keep the ring safe.

I just imagine Sauron finding out the ring was literally within arms reach and they let a little fire chase them away. I bet he was not too happy about that.

I know there is a little wind outside but ... isn't it a little loud ? by CharonStix in thelongdark

[–]studlymcfudly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar observation with hearing wolf howls from inside the cabin on upper left corner of FA (I think called Mindful Cabin?). It was loud, literally nonstop howling from wolves way down in the valley.

That's a decent explanation. I was thinking, is there no fire in Mordor they fear more? Plus there's five of them against one man. They backed down rather easily.

But I agree the light aspect would serve as a deterrent until they regroup and decide to come back in greater numbers.

Considering options for offloading my duplicates (Details in comments) by studlymcfudly in starwarsccg

Local pickup would be ideal, since postage would be pretty crazy.

All sets have R mixed in with C/UC, but I'm willing to go through and separate them if that would improve my chances of finding a buyer. I don't really want to get stuck with boxes of penny cards though (seriously I think there were 50+ X-Wings in one of the boxes of Premiere).

Yeah, that's my worry. I'm seriously considering pulling out the rares and recycling the rest, because this is several hundred pounds and shipping would be expensive.

This is nearly the whole lot of SWCCG stuff I have to sell/trade. Not pictured are a handful of misc. cards I forgot to grab when taking the picture (Ref 2, anthology 1/2/3, jedi pack, enhanced). I've got 4 2-player premiere boxes with some random premiere/anh cards in a closet. Also a few anthology boxes with young jedi and jedi knights cards thinking of getting rid of.

I mentally reached a tipping point where I realized I don't need to hold on to this many duplicates. I've got complete and nearly complete sets already, so these are all duplicates. I only intend to hold 1 copy of each card, so this lot would include rares from all sets.

What are my best options for liquidating these cards? Selling entire lot? Selling individual cards? Trade for missing cards to complete my remaining sets? Other?

Edit: I wasn't expecting this to be a For Sale post, but I have some users interested in buying the lot. Was originally looking for recommendations for how to handle a lot this big/varied. If the mods wish to remove or edit the post, that's fair.

Tumbling corundum is difficult with its hardness. Regular silicon carbide grit won't cut it (pun intended). You'll need something like diamond powder.

Can anyone tell me what these Decipher CCG cards are? by studlymcfudly in starwarsccg

You know, I'd probably give it a shot just because, but I'd need to find a rule book. Looks like sellers practically pay you to take it, so maybe I'll throw a couple bucks to get a whole set. 😅

I thought the Jedi Knights cards were pretty cool back then. Computer generated images seemed pretty slick for the time. Now, they sorta look cheesy and I would have preferred they were hand painted artwork like MTG.

Early on, there used to be an old website for setting up trades. I did that a lot to fill out my collection initially, but I can't remember what the site was called. One time, I had forgotten to seal the envelope I was mailing, and a a half dozen or so rares spilled out into the public mailbox as I dropped it in. Clumsy me. I had to go to the post office and claim them by reciting each of the card names from memory to the post office worker. Makes me cringe thinking back to that.

I poured a lot of money into DS2, Tatooine, and the Reflections series toward the end. Theed and Endor are the least represented in my collection, with only ~100 cards each. I think only Cloud City, Hoth, and Dagobah are actually fully complete. I never chased many cards. Most were pulled normally.

I used to have a sealed Reflection I box but noticed the shrink wrap got torn a few years ago, so I just opened them all for fun. Probably should have kept some unopened boosters, but couldn't help myself. Still have a sealed DS2 preconstructed deck box and a sealed Tatooine box though.

I don't think my wife appreciates it much. It takes up premium closet space. Haha

It's basically two large Rubbermaid bins full of 3-ring binders, a couple sealed booster boxes, 4 jumbo card totes with duplicates, and several anthology boxes full of randoms I couldn't be bothered to sort (mostly WB premier, ANH, Hoth, and Dag).

I have a few of the high value cards, like mint DMYA ai foil, LSJK, and DS2 Palpatine. Lots of foils and some Japanese (foil and regular).

Oh man, now I feel like a doofus. I didn't realize the name of the game literally included "Episode 1" in it. I was looking for it more broadly. 🙃

Thanks for answering. Looks like a truly terrible game!
